I was looking for a more cost effective alternate to the GoPro Remote. I wanted to be able to start and stop recording on my GoPro X Black from a distance. This unit has a nice construction and feel, is easy to connect, and works great even at a distance of 50 feet or so. If you are far enough away to hear your GoPro beep, the flashing green status light will let you know if you're recording. There are other functions as well, like changing modes and powering the GoPro on/off from the remote. You can see other information on the screen, like your current mode and battery life of the GoPro. One strange thing is that the screen seems to be polarized at a 90 degree difference to my polarized sunglasses, so it would cancel out the display - I had to remove my polarized sunglasses to see the info on the display screen. Overall, it is a very nice option at half the price of the brand name version.

This remote does not stay connected to our GoPro. It has to be reset every time!!

Works as advertised. However, the battery had a very short lifespan. I bought it in February and its battery is kaput in July. It will work if I have it plugged in, just not on battery anymore. Also, the magnetic charging cable is a cool idea, but now I have another unique cable to remember and not loose.

Pudiera ser un excelente remoto si realmente pudiera prender y apagar en cualquier instante la cámara pero por algún motivo en ocasiones hay que prender la cámara primero y ya después funciona bien el control , pienso que después de un tiempo de apagada la cámara el control deja de tener funciones hasta prender la camara nuevamente
