Bought this fuel connector awhile back. I needed it to make a connection for a Chrysler outboard. I had an older Sierra one from years past. When I tried to hook this newer one to the fuel bushing(male portion) I just could not get it to hold tight. I could easily pull it off. Comparing it to the one I purchased years ago I noticed a difference in the overall height of the inner radius of the part that slips over the male piece. I took some 320 emery paper and start sanding a little bit of the top of the inner radius off until it fit. I tried it on several bushings and it worked without leaking on all of them. Issue solved. Usually Sierra makes reliable parts. Bottom line is I would buy again.

I did plenty of research to ensure I was buying the correct part for my 1975 25hp Chrysler outboard, but this fitting will not fit onto the OEM fuel connector on the engine side of the fuel connector. The part appears to to built well, and made out of good materials, but it will not seal correctly. Not happy!!!UPDATE: I ended up filing the end of the fitting to shorten it a small amount, this was the adjustment need to ensure the fitting "clicked" into place and make a seal. All is well now.

Not as pictured. Apparently this same Sierra number is used for parts with different size hose barbs. Description does not say, but this is for 3/8" hose. I needed the 5/16.

I bought this connector along with the male version (18-8071) hoping to replace the old plastic connectors I had on my 1988 Suzuki outboard. Long story short the connector leaks terribly! I'm sure I just received a faulty connector, but I was a little disappointed in Sierra for selling a cheap part. I rushed down to my local hardware store and purchased the near identical connector made by United States Hardware Manufacturing Inc. This new one that i spent 18 dollars on worked perfect! I will be returning the Sierra connector and will only hope that something like this doesn't happen again. The attached pictures show the connector leaking when just pushing on the primer bulb! I'm giving this piece one star just because the piece I bought sucked. Do not be discouraged to buying this part, it was probably just a coincidence that mine was faulty.
