Been using the drive for about a week now, and like any other EXOS drive i've ever used, they've been great, fast and easy to hook up, especially if you have a drive enclosure.Of course, i do require a lot of space, so I tend to buy the larger drives from Seagate, and i've had several 12TB, 16TB and 20TB drives and they all are still running flawlessly and without issues. This particular review is for a refurbished 16TB drive, which works just as well as any of the others i've purchased. :)They are expensive, but worth it in my opinion!

I purchased 7. They arrived well packed. They all worked perfectly in a QNAP NAS RAID 6 system. I've tested them with a few resyncs and reconfigurations. No errors and no problems. Re. some reviews mention the sound level of these drives. While rotating and not seeking they are very quiet, more quiet than my older drives. While seeking they make a noise I truly enjoy. It is a muted click, sort of a computer "white noise". When I actuate a program it is easy to tell what the drives and software are doing based on the pattern of the muted clicks and moans of the seeking heads. Yes, this might be nerdy, but to me it is akin to a well-tuned exhaust on a car . . . you know what the hardware is doing. Ambient from the machine. Nice.

I ordered two of these due to the price and it seemed like a great deal. Upon receiving both drives, one was detected but not functional, the other wasnt even detected. Both drives were broken, basically. When testing them, I heard a loud screeching noise when they powered up. Save yourself some time and hassle just get new drives.

I have had a lifetime of experience with hard drives, and failures of hard drives, but Seagate and WD are amazing companies that offer great products and service. This drive worked fine as soon as I got it, it's already half full and is humming along beautifully. Excellent value for money as well. If you need video backup storage, this is a great affordable option!

No issues, holds all my data. It's snappy for a spinning disk. Going on 4 years of continuous use. Would buy again.

Real world I'm getting 124MB/ps transferring backup files and the drive is sitting at 40c after 9 hours solid in a mid-tower computer case with a bunch of other hot components all air cooled.I'm not the most sensitive person when it comes to drive noise, but with this drive less than a two feet away from me I can't even hear it over my normal computer fans. So I'd say if you're like me and you're coming from some 10+ year normal 7,200 RPM hard drive you can pretty safely not worry about all the reviews about noise. I was a little worried because of just how dire some people make enterprise drives sound when it comes to noise, and I'm glad I was willing to risk it.

This is the third one of these I've bought. First was 12TB, then 14TB, and now 16TB. These are just being used to store games, movies, tv shows, etc to stream from my home server (as wells as backup folders for various PC's). I decided to test the USB performance and I'm getting write speeds near 180MB/s which is great. I'm sure it'll be even faster once on SATA. I let these drives spin down when not in use to save wear and tear. You really can't go wrong for the price. I'd rather trust my data to an older physical drive than a new solid state one where if one little thing goes bad it's all lost. At least with a physical drive you can usually recover any undamaged data.

I got 4 of theses for a new nas server. After the regular smart validation one of the was dead on arrival (the one in the picture).I contact Amazon and they issue a replacement right away. The fifth came without a issue. 4 of them end up been usable after all.The replacement procedure fireup some kind of extra charge if I don’t return the damaged unit. Despising the fact that this was not required per Amazon confirmation, at the end Amazon end up charging the defective unit.A quick support afterwards clear up all that mess and is all good now.The funny thing is that the same supplier who sent the disk (refurbished), the didn’t test them prior to delivery. Or they suffer some internal damage due to transportation?Anyway a newly nas with 32tb of storage in raid10 with these new babies run smooth. A bit noisy from time to time during heavy io usage. Not a problem for me considering they are inside the nas, inside the rack.I cannot say if I would buy them again, storage tech grows so fast, that at the time you feel the need to increase storage new solutions will be available. Right now is the bang of the buck you can get for the size.
