I play tenor sax more often than alto or soprano, and after a practice session of an hour or two, my neck would ache pretty badly even with a nice Neotech padded neck strap. When I saw this unit offered, I decided to give it a try.Today I practiced on the tenor for two hours using this shoulder resting unit and it worked great. I like to practice standing up and walking around a bit, so I can’t speak to using this unit sitting down, but for me it worked great. After the two-hour practice session I had no pain in the neck, shoulders, or anywhere. I also like how easy it is to put on and take off. It’s just as easy, if not easier, than a regular neck strap. The sax always felt securely supported.I’ll be using this unit all the time now.

Use Neotech Sax Strap after playing Saxophone since, until I tried on this shoulder strap. Most of straps claimed helping reduce neck and shoulder pressure. But generally saying is still put the weight on the neck. Unlike neck strap, this shoulder strap distributes the weight of Saxophone over 3 contact areas: both shoulders and abdomen. Double shoulder straps are very easy to adjust and hook on the shoulder. Since it is hanged on the shoulder, it is suitable for standing up performance or practicing but not sitting position. The abdominal support is the key to stable and release the pressure of the weight. You might not feel much at first. But after carrying for a longer period, you will really appreciate the less pressure if supported.

This device is much more effective than others because the support angle is very close to vertical, which relieves most of the stress on the thumb.. The metal hook is coated to protect the finish on the sax.

I'm having trouble wearing this. I'm not sure if it's me or the strap. I may just need to get used to it. I will update this review once I've had a chance to use it more.

I'm trying a new type of review. I call it the James Joyce "stream of consciousness" technique and I'm applying it to the ROCHIX 1890 saxophone strap that I just received and tried out. Here we go:So right off the bat, a lot less pressure on my neck and shoulders. It kind of floats. Probably helpful for a long gig.Perhaps a touch of padding on the shoulder hanging part might be nice. The locking feature of the shoulder supports is good.I initially thought the support part that rests on the stomach/ diaphragm was weird, but after using it a while, the added resistance is nice.It never felt like it would break, but the hardware could be a little more solid and the way the string is knotted to the unit could feel a bit more secure. It feels great when standing and playing straight on, but sitting with the horn on the outside of my leg took a little getting used to. Also, if you are a player who does lots of theatrics with your horn (which I don't), you might find it a little inhibiting. All in all, after a short 20 minute demo, I like it a lot and will be using it, especially on long gigs.

The strap that came with my tenor puts a lot of pressure on my neck. It makes me look like one of the pros, but it is sure a pain in the neck. This one is just the opposite. It distributes that weight of the saxophone across three points on the body making it very comfortable. But it looks kind of funny. For me though comfort wins over looks. It is easy to open and put on. There is some initial adjustments for a good fit. The rubber covered hook is easily adjusted with a brass clasp and cord to bring the sax to the correct positioning. It is light and able to easily be reduced to a small size for storage. This is highly recommended.

this will not work if you play bari or tenor and have to sit down

This is my fourth type of saxophone strap. I started with the strap which came with the sax. It hurt my neck after short time. The next was the same (standard) strap with wider neck part. I had the same result. The next was a harness. It took to long and it was to complicated to put it on. Especially for children not very helpful and it didn't fit well the different body sizes. It was also not such comfortable to use it over longer sessions. The next was a shoulder strap. It was impossible to adjust it to the shoulder shape and it was also some type of heavy. Perhaps other brands than what I got are easier to adjust without using brutal force. At least it was better than the others I tried. I could play longer time and had not much pain. But the shoulder part was moving (perhaps because I could it not adjust like needed), what was a little bit distracting. Now this one. It is very light, sometimes I don't even feel it at all (without sax). It's easy to put on, both shoulder parts are movable. It's like you put on a stethoscope. The parts are locked. Unlocking is just so easy, just press the button. It is not moving around. The shoulder part is easy to adjust to your shoulder shape. The lower support requires getting used to, but after a while you don't even feel it any longer. Even long sessions are not longer painful. I will stick with this saxophone strap for a longer time, it feels comfortable, light and easy to use.
