Does everything I needed. I expected good quality from SanDisk brand and have had no issues with this card so far.45mb/s made a big difference to the save time on my X-E1 (which has a horrible "quirk" where the whole camera locks up while writing, making this important), at least compared to the old 4GB "class 10" card I had. I'm not sure if getting the 95 mb/s one would have made it go any faster.

After having a terrible experience with some cheap memory cards (lost some pictures - arg!) I snagged two of these bad boys on a great sale, and I've been very happy with their performance. I am able to shoot in RAW & burst mode pretty much continuously. As well, shooting HD video is a cinch, I don't have to worry about the video cutting out because the write speed is too low.Sandisk is known for their quality, and I would strongly recommend these to anyone considering them.

This is the same review I wrote for the same microSD card from SanDisk, a trusted and leading developer of SD cards. As a self-proclaimed non-tech person, one day I decided to read-up on different data backup methods with the aim of deciding on a reliable and easy system for my accumulating digital photo collection. This was a task nagging in the back of my head since my laptop was stolen and I experienced that deplorable sense of loss from losing irreplaceable media. I've come to the following conclusions:(1) Best choice for backup is a hard drive.(2) Next best are SD cards which stand for SECURE DIGITAL Memory Card. As in data can be recovered from an SD card that has been floating in the ocean. And since my photos are already on the SD card from my Nikon CoolPix, the most efficient system would be to leave them on the SD card and to continue snapping away with new SD cards as they become full. Easy-peasy. The gradual mutation of 0s and 1s that degrade data quality could be stayed with accessing the cards every 5-10 years.(3) Worst are CD and DVD disks which can be worn, scratched, and broken. Also, they take forever to burn. Don't do it.(4) Yeah, the cloud is great and all but I don't want my Las Vegas weekend photos floating around out there in the digital-miasma, especially since I don't know what the future recurring cost of storing my expanding collection would be. And what if I have a dying desire to peer at an old photo of Fido and the internet connection is down?Based on my evening of reading, I also now understand the different labels and tiers of SD cards. I did some hard number comparisons without understanding given all else equal why a microSD card might be slightly faster than a normal sized SD card, etc. I'm not getting into the specifics but will only say that I am ashamed to have bought based solely on maximum ratio of GBs to price. I don't own a GoPro, so I myself did wonder whether the faster class of SD cards could make a noticeable difference for me. Especially for the more expensive price and for my questionably-compatable electronics.(5) I put one in my 4G HTC smart phone and one in my Nikon Coolpix S8100 (with an adaptor). I had gotten these gadgets when they were top of the line and hot off their manufacturing assembies but now they are a few years old. I did indeed notice faster "processing" times in accessing and recording photos--namely with the multi-shoot function where the camera keeps taking photos with the button held continuously down. The only slowness I noticed was when booting up the phone from power-off.(6) Considering the technological advances in cameras, camcorders, and phones that take SD cards, and possible issues of backwards compatibility (SAVE those card reading adaptors along with the SD cards), and the likelihood of my upgrading my gadgets, all-in-all I decided keeping up with similar advances in data storage not a bad investment.I got the SanDisk Extreme and other cards at a reasonable price at the time of purchase, and have noticed since some price increases. I decided on smaller storage capacities for each of my disks (8-16GB vs 32 or more) because I don't shoot many videos and because of the minimal but extant chance of card corruption--spreading my risk of loss into smaller baskets. I also preferred microSDs that come with adaptors over regular-sized SDs because I imagine more use for microSDs in the future. I bought only the minimum number of disks I needed for my current storage and picture-taking needs as I expect prices to come down in the future.

Considerably faster than the cheaper class 10 cards. I have been using the , which currently retail for 69% of what this card does. I performed a simple comparison between 2 of these cards (brand new) and 2 of said Transcend cards (~1.5 years old, not sure how much this matters).I filled the buffer of my Nikon D7000 with 9 RAW images, then measured the time to write that entire buffer to the card. This is about 192 MB. I formatted each card in camera, and then performed three consecutive runs on each card. Results (time in seconds):SanDisk 1: 6.9, 7.2, 7.3; 26.9 MB/s avgSanDisk 2: 6.9, 7.0, 7.1; 27.4 MB/s avgTranscend 1: 12.0, 11.4, 11.9; 16.3 MB/s avgTranscend 2: 15.8, card error, reformat, 15.4, 15.8, 15.5; 12.3 MB/s avg (for last 3 runs)So, if we toss the 2nd card for being sketchy with the card error (I have encountered that only once or twice in the field, and I didn't lose the photos already recorded), we find that the Transcend card has 60% of the SanDisk's speed. So it would appear this SanDisk card has pretty good bang for your buck, with considerably better absolute performance, and better performance per dollar.

Updated: 8/7/2013:A few weeks ago I drove up to my summer home and took my laptop as I was going to be there for sometime shooting heavily. Would you believe on the first day there my powerbook broke? Yup. Here I am, with only an iPad to upload my SD cards to, and quickly running out of space. So, using my Amazon prime account I ordered another two cards and had them within two days. As usual, they work fantastically. I swap and format them between my Fuji X-E1 as well as my Nikon D800. They are fast enough for me. I think I have five of them now and will probably get some more for extended shooting. Love these cards, and the frustration free packaging, and price is great.Updated: 5/13/2013:I just ordered my THIRD card. 16G capacity. It works great in all my cameras that use the SD card. No complaints. For the price, it's an awesome deal.Updated: 3/39/2013:This card is fast and works flawlessly. I keep swapping it between my Fuji X-E1, The Nikon D800, and my Panasonic LX-5. I format it in each camera as I use it and it is FAST in each camera. I may order a couple more.I've used this card now for about two weeks in my Nikon D800. It's super fast! Can it keep up in burst mode? Yes. Once the buffer in the camera is full, it takes just a few seconds to be able to shoot another couple of shots. For my style of shooting, especially with the D800, it's more than enough horsepower.Packaging was trouble free, easy to open. I also tested this card in my Lumix LX5 and it was truly a speed demon in that camera. Not much else to say about the card other than it works, it's fast and for the price it really can't be beat.

The information provided by SanDisk claims 16 GB of storage. However, when I format the card I am told by the camera that I have 14.8 GB of storage.I know from experience that when you format an SD card that there is a bit less storage than the rated capacity of the card. However, the difference of 1.2 GB seems too much of a loss and for that reason I have given the card 4 stars.SanDisk cards are all I use and this card performs as expected.A plus with this card, and the reason I bought this particular 16 GB SanDisk card, is that it comes with a coupon for ResuePro, the excellent data recovery software produced by SanDisk. If you accidentally erase your SD card, this softwarewill get the pictures back. I had the need to use this software once and was very happy it worked so well. To buy this software will cost you as much as Amazon is charging for the card, so getting the card and the software for the price of thecard makes this a super value.
