Raw copper is drawn to meet specific size requirements based on the National Electrical Manufacturer’s Association (NEMA) standards. This magnet wire meets the NEMA MW-79-C standard for operating temperature (155°C/311°F) and insulation makeup. The insulation is made from modified Polyurethane, and protects the coiled wire from short-circuiting.

I purchased this wire to refurbish the high frequency part Magnepan flat-panel speakers, where the original wire breaks, since these speakers were made in the 70's.. The wire does have an enamel covering and has to be sanded for contact/soldering. The strength of the wire was greater than I had anticipated, as it never broke in two while I was handling/installing the wire on the panels. End result: refurbish was successful, however the resulting sound did not reproduce the high frequencies as well as the working original I compared it with. This may be due to using too much glue, or the wrong type of metal wire, but this wire has no fault.
