If you need 8-ish* gauge copper-clad aluminum wire with a very thick insulation that looks nice, you have found it. The insulation seems to hold up well to heat and measures 6mm diameter.* I carefully stripped a piece, twisted the end tight and took several measurements with digital calipers. It measured 2.9mm = 9 AWG. I bought this product several years ago and am just now using it.

Purchased this for a small amplifier power wire. After receipt will not be using it for that. Ordered an oxygen free 8 gauge wire instead that is twice as heavy for the same specs. Glad I changed my mind. This wire is probably fine as a speaker wire, but for my 600w amp I wasn't comfortable using it.

3 stars because it was very cheap. I did read reviews that said this was not oxygen free copper, as the description says, but I ordered it in the hopes that I would receive something different than those reviewers. I received copper clad aluminum. 8 gauge is heavier than I need for my application, so I may still use it, as even cca has less resistance than the wire specced for my project. The charts I've found show that 8 gauge cca has a little less resistance that 10 gauge ofc.

Don't waste money on "audiophile" "high end" loudspeaker cables. The "engineers" who design "high end" cables have no physics or engineering training. For instance, they sell cables which are hollow or litz constructed to "correct" for skin effect at high frequencies. Skin effect attenuates an audio signal by 0.01 decibels at 20 kHz compared to the lowest frequency you can hear for two 5 foot lengths of this 8 gauge cable in series with a 4 Ohm planar magnetic speaker. Pure long grain copper does not emulate little diodes which must overcome threshold voltages and the insulator does not store static electricity that can introduce so much as a microvolt into speaker wires. Get thick enough cable which is easy to connect to banana plugs and cables costing hundreds or even thousands will not be any better. Look for the speaker cables in the attached photographs. The ruby red see-through insulation I think is far more beautiful and not eloquent in snake oil.

Yes again not true 8 gauge wire that it claims to be. Will it do the job, don't know yet.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this wire, compared to other more expensive versions. This is definitly more bang for your buck. I have been using this wire for the past 5 months for my stereo system in my car and have not had any issues.

I used this for a solar power installation. It worked as advertised, thanks.

Very thick wire which contains lots of tiny copper strands. You can get better quality thinner wire, but with thicker better quality strands at the same gauge than this.

Great wire quality! Running an AUX power connection to the back of my Jeep but wanted something a little bigger than a 12-14 gauge. This wire is perfect. It's easy to strip, easy to terminate & is flexible to guide through the vehicle.I'll buy more rolls of this in multiple sizes to outfit my shop with wire, that is no doubt. (I also bought black)

I used this to run about a 15 foot power cord from the battery to a Kenwood Subwoofer Amp in the high top of my van. All I needed to do was strip each end and attach an eyelet. No problem, except I noticed that the wire was pretty brittle as I skinned the ends; a lot of wire stands came off with the stripped plastic. This past week, I had to do a little re-wiring to include a 12 volt antenna amp for the TV and decided to splice into the power cord. This wire is so brittle, that stripping a small section of plastic, resulted in at least half the wire breaking off in my hand. Rolling between thumb and fore finger to smooth out the rough edges, breaks even more wire. It's totally broken where I stripped it and is now too short to reach the amp. I'm not sure if I'm going to attempt to splice in another section or just pull and replace it. I've never seen wire this poorly constructed. I would never buy it, nor recommend it.

does what i need and at a price i can appreciate. enough length for a 2 channel and perhaps a second 2 channel, doubt u could run a 5 channel on this roll because length of units from amp, but for what i needed it did the job marvelously
