We researched many aspects, including the amounts and types of fiber, the ideal feed form, the unique vitamin and mineral requirements of horses on low starch and sugar diets, as well as energy requirements. We adjusted protein-to-energy ratios and added high quality essential amino acids as well as antioxidants and essential fatty acids. It's an enormous balancing act that requires the consideration of more than just the sugar and starch levels. However, the result is worth it - a nutritionally balanced, highly palatable diet that veterinarians and horse owners can use with confidence.

This horse feed was recommended by one of my many vets.to deal with my horses' overweight and laminitus issues because of their ages and the richness of my pastures. I have LOTS of animals and live in rural Texas. Anyway, my horses SCARF this feed. The only problem (and it has nothing to do with the quality of the feed) is that it is apparently so yummy that my older quarter horse (prob 30 years old now and who my equine vet said is in fabulous shape) steals it from the other two horses and runs them out of their stalls. So now I have to close the outer stall doors and remember (not easy at my age) to go back and let them all out. It is a very good feed! I do supplement with a pound of another special feed to make sure they get the nutrients that the vet wants them to have. My old boy is fed Equine Senior but likes to steal the diet food from the younger two...

I love this feed.But I can buy 2 bags and start on a third for that much.Mayb they are some where it actually is that high.I have a Purina plant in the same Town I live in.

Finding a supplemental grain with low NSC (nonstructural carbohydrates) is not easy. This is a good product and the full description on the sack is very helpful.

It is totally overpriced on Amazon but it is a great product

Had prompt delivery. Used to add to a 26yr old horse’s diet to keep him in good condition and at the same time not causing problems with his history of mild, long gone laminitis.
