Edited (1 star) to add: I always washed it by hand to avoid losing the measurement marks in the dishwasher, even though it says dishwasher safe but the marks came off anyway (see my first review, below) so tonight i put it on the TOP rack of my dishwasher and it melted like a shrinky dink! Total waste of money.Previous rating: (3 stars) Mixes but the ranch dressing makes nasty gunk in the top/pour spout and the measuring numbers wore off after only a couple of months.

This seems to be decently made but it's really not meant for anything like a thicker ranch or caeser dressing. The mixer in the middle doesn't have enough mass to move on its on without extremely vigorous shaking. The other issues are related to the pour spout: Namely that it doesn't pour anything thick very well. It is hydorphobic but unless it's an oil/vinegar based dressing all of it will never run back down into the bottle and you'll have residue stuck in the hinge mechanism which leads to all sorts of issues.

I like a number of things about this shaker: I like the 'measuring cup' lines on the sides (one less item to wash); I like that there is a lid; I like that it saves a step and more dishes by doing the emulsion step that some dressings require. the only thing I dislike is that the dressing often drips down the side of the lid/bottle when finished pouring; also, when I accidentally put it into a sinkful of greasy water, I just couldn't seem to get the grease off the in- or outside of the bottle. since most or all dressings contain some sort of oil, I hope this won't be a continuing problem.

I already own the , so wasn't sure if I needed this, but I'm so glad I got it. You can dump all the dressing ingredients right into it, and then shake it to mix everything up. So far I've used it for vinaigrettes and for thick dressings, and it has worked well for both. The seal also keeps things fresh, and it's nice to have the mixer attached since you can shake it up again after your dressing has been sitting in the fridge for a few days. It's a great little kitchen gadget that makes eating homemade dressings a lot easier!

This is a second hand review since I bought the shaker for my daughter and haven’t used it myself. She had lost the lid to her old shaker and was making dressing in a bowl. This as you can imagine was a real mess. She loved the Prepworks by Progressive Dressing Salad Shaker so much that she ordered another for herself. Her family eats a lot of salads and like different dressings. She says the shaker works great, even better than her old one which came free with a dressing mix. It mixes the ingredients nicely and washes well in the dishwasher. I plan on getting one for myself since I have been experimenting with different dressings on my latest diet.

I have to admit, I returned this item without ever using it. I cannot attest to whether it drips when pouring, but the design appeared that it probably would when seen in person. What was the dealbreaker for me was that the mixing apparatus cannot be removed. It stays in the container unless you remove the lid, and cannot be removed from the lid. I had planned to keep coffee cream in it and I didn't want that mixer thingy so I returned it.

I bought this salad dressing mixer after having to transport homemade salad dressing to a family event in a plastic bowl with a lid. I wanted something that would mix well, travel well, measure well, and would not leak. I have used it a few times, mostly to make vinegar marinades for fresh veggies like cucumber/tomato/onion. It makes mixing so easy -- I measure 1/2 cup vinegar right inside the bottle, add my other ingredients, close, shake, and pour. It's really easy and fast. Then I just take it apart and throw it in the dishwasher, so easy cleanup. I put the shaker part in the silverware rack. The shaker is 2 pieces - the "cup" portion and the rest, it screws together. The green shaker piece does not come off, but when you shake it easily goes up and down the middle plastic piece. I have not tried to see if it is completely leak-proof and I probably wouldn't take the chance, but it does seem to kind of secure itself when you click the pourer in, and there has been no splatter when I shake it. While it doesn't "click" closed like other travel containers, I believe it would travel well so long as it's somewhat secured upright. The more common OXO shaker on the market is more expensive and seems like it would definitely spill in transit, I don't know why this one isn't sold more! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who makes their own dressings/marinades/sauces, much easier (with less cleanup) than measuring in a bowl and whisking. Also it's a good size, it holds over 2 cups which is enough for most dressings.Edit: After months of owning this, I really cannot express how much I love it. It makes making and transporting dressings soooo easy. I can throw together something to bring with a salad to a potluck or family dinner. I can bring it in the car and even invert it and it doesn't spill (when closed of course). It doesn't leak!! It's so easy to clean (dishwasher)! Seriously it is awesome and I don't understand why they don't sell this one in stores.

This is a very well thought out product. The measuring lines on the container are easy to read and make putting together salad dressing a breeze. The mixer means you just give it one good shake and your dressing is ready to pour even after sitting in the refrigerator and getting a little solid. The wide pour top gives you good control and lets you pour even thicker ranch type dressings, And I really love the fact you honestly can just stick it in the dishwasher and get it totally clean. I've only had it a couple of weeks so I don't know if it is well made enough to outlive me, but so far I'm impressed. Whoever designed this has actually made their own salad dressing!
