Heavy duty?Not even close!These broke within a minute of use. They are very fragile and snap in two. They arrived in time, all of them were intact, broke immediately.Useless.

Works how a needle should...

I have a big piece of pleather (real leather from a fake cow) and I wanted to make some custom tool pouches that actually fit my tools. I want to make a phone holder with the fit and features I want, I just need to source the metal belt clip. Between these needles and a grommet kit and a snap fastener kit and I can make a professional looking pouch. Since it's pleather I was able to poke through it just fine with these needles, and the curved ones help with pushing it through. I needed them both, after watching some youtubes about how to do it.

I don't often have cause for such heavy duty needles as are included in this kit. I don't know when I'll ever need a sail needle. But I have to say that the curved mattress needle has been a revelation. I have been making decorative, stuffed Christmas tress for the holidays. Using that curved needle to close the seams with a ladder stitch has been so much easier than with a straight needle. I only which it had a smaller gauge, but that might make it a different kind of needle. So far though, it's worked a treat. As for the other needles, they feel strong, sharp, and well-made. They have large eyes to make threading easier. This says it is a basic home assortment and I do believe that at some point they may come in handy. A good add to the sewing kit.

This is the exact same set of needles I received as part of a 12-piece leather craft tool kit (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GNCTMQG) I bought a few years ago. The needles have held up very well — the only casualty has been the small curve needle, which finally snapped after quite a few stitches through thick leather (hence, the reason I ordered this set of needles). For fabrics less tough than leather, these needles have remained sharp and have not bent. And as for the small curved needle, I knew it was only a matter of time before repairs in tough leather would do that one in, but it served me well for a couple of years, so I have no complaints, especially given the low price.5 stars.
