The last bulb wasn't a Philips and only lasted a couple of months. It's hard to give a review until the bulb's longevity is proven, but I can tell just by looking at the product next to the Chinese knock off that I also purchased, the quality of this one definetely better. It also came with Philips paperwork and better packaging. The picture is much brighter as well, although I did clean the mirror a bit as well. I've always had the picture mode set to vivid but now it's bright enough to keep on standard picture mode. Be nice if there wasn't such a difference in price between the different manufacturers, and if you knew what you getting when you buy online, but if it lasts it will be worth the hundred bucks. I'll give it 5 stars when they make it $75

Turned on my TV and saw the red light that I thought said "LAMP." I tried the remote again and again. Same thing - no picture but a little red blinking light that then disappeared. YIKES. It didn't look good for my TV watching and it looked expensive, too.Last time this happened in 2011, this 61" Sony was under warranty but not any more. I told my husband (who was away on business) that the red light came on and he thought it would be around $200 but said maybe I should try to find the bulb myself and try to save $ on the service call. Is he nuts? But I once again turned to Amazon and sure enough found a few places that carry a replacement lamp. I read the reviews for all of them - looked at pros and cons of each and the warranties. After I read them, I felt up to the challenge of doing the install myself although I have to tell you, I was a little nervous! Finally decided on this one "SOLD BY BULB WORLD and FULFILLED BY AMAZON" for a few reasons: it said OEM, they give a 1 year warranty as opposed to 30 days, and previous purchasers seemed to love it. Got it in one day (YAY!). My first challenge was getting behind the TV without knocking it on to the floor. Then I put the (included) gloves on, opened the little door on the back, pulled out the old lamp (easy), blew out the very dusty opening where the lamp was and very carefully put in the new one. Carefully climbed out of my cramped corner to get the remote. Nothing. Did I do something wrong? Took it out and looked at the lamp, not having a clue what I was looking at. Put it back in. Nothing. The fan started up but the TV still would not stay on. I started to lose hope. Then I read the manual for the TV and it said to put the door back on. I just fit it into place and tried again and... nothing. I did everything correctly and even put the door back on and still it didn't work.At that point I figured the lamp was defective so I took it out, wrapped it back up and very dejectedly put the lamp back in the box. I was about to pack it up to send back when I got the brainy idea to actually not only put the door back on but thought it would be smart to screw the screws back in since the Sony manual said to do that. So I once again unwrapped the lamp and put it back in, put the door in place and screwed it on. I reached around the front to get a good angle with the remote, hit it and VOILA! It was magic. The fan came on and stayed on! "Houston, we have liftoff." It was a miracle! The TV happily and beautifully came back to life. [NOTE: I guess the door has to be on AND screwed in for the circuit or whatever to work - DUH.]ALL I KNOW IS THAT IT WORKED! SUCCESS! I am now a TV fixit gal and I can do anything. For about $52 or so, I fixed our giant, intimidating, love-of-my-husband's-life TV. I again carefully slid out of my corner prison and did a little victory dance and sang "I AM WOMAN" a la Helen Reddy. I was so proud of myself. I called a few friends and told them "we can do anything we set our minds to doing." They thought I was crazy but when I told them what I did, they were amazed! (My husband was proud of me, too.)My suggestion is make sure this is the lamp you need and promptly order it from these guys. Then have your whole work area prepared so you have everything you need right there (can of air, gloves, screwdriver, maybe a rag, plenty of light AND a flashlight just in case) so when the new lamp gets to you, you can just pop it in, screw the door back on and start watching your favorite shows once again. It was easy even though it took me 1/2 hour of delicate surgery because of the fact that I was dumb and didn't screw the little door back on.Believe me, if I did it, YOU CAN DO IT!

Had replaced this type item many time over five years since we are retired heavy watchers. We always paid over $300 for original part with labor. Last one lasted 7 months but dealer put it through warranty although warranty was 6 months. Decided to give this product a try. My old bulb was still working but my plan was to replace with new bulb and use old bulb when new one blew out. At that time I would order another from the same site thereby always having a bulb in stock. Since no rush, used regular shipping which was free and came within a few days. Housing of bulb was very different from original and I tried to install it upside down. Realized mistake and it installed easily. Bulb is generic with no brand name. It was made in Mexico, where a lot of Sony products are made.It started right up with no problem. Time will tell if it is a good product, but I could order four of these and it wouldn't equal the cost of the Sony bulb.

Sony KDS-R5OXBR1 KDSR5OXBR1 Lamp with Housing XL5100First off, this part is clearly described as OEM Sony in the listing, but the box that arrived did not say Sony, nor did it say Phillips whom I believe is the OEM manufacturer for Sony. There are no markings on either bulb, so it's impossible to tell. So right off the bat, I have to question the accuracy of the description, especially since the price on this item seems to be 'too good to be true' for the OEM part. When I first installed the bulb and turned on the TV, it did not work, and the Lamp LED flashed red three times. Several re-install attempts did not fix the issue. I remembered reading some reviews of other aftermarket bulbs that stated that the housing did not make full contact with a small switch inside the TV, and that they resorted to taking apart the housings and put the new bulb in the old housing to great effect... But since I didn't really want to take apart the housing, I went the other way: Look at where the little switch is located (bottom right when looking into the access door) and figure out where on the lamp housing it makes contact with, then place two layers of packing tape on that location to build it up a little. After doing this and reinstalling the bulb, the TV works fine. This further points to this being an aftermarket bulb as the tolerances seem just ever so slightly off, such that two layers of packing tape (probably 3-mil) mean the difference in being able to activate the switch.Once installed the bulb is working fine and my picture looks great, clearly my old bulb had degraded over time without my noticing it, as the picture is definitely brighter with better colors and sharpness. There have been some complaining about poor color, green streaks, etc, but I would say that either they truly got a bad bulb, or there is something else wrong with their TV. It has only been less than a week, so time will tell if it lasts. One last quirk with my order.I apparently purchased this item from Lamp Monsters fulfilled by Amazon... But as of this writing this has changed to Projector Nova, and at least one other seller that I can't remember. The description (and 1 year warranty) hasn't changed, so I assume Amazon will honor it, but it's just weird.Overall:May not be OEM, housing may require some fiddling to get it working, picture looks great, pricing is great, hopefully it lasts!
