I ordered the Pet Nail Grinder for Dogs - Quiet 2-Speed Type-C Rechargeable Dog Nail Trimmer for my dog. I've had dogs my whole life, and this is the very first time I've ever used a nail grinder. I've always just used clippers, and all of my animals tolerated it fine since I've done it their whole lives. I use a fingernail clipper for the cat. I noticed my 15-year-old dog is starting to dislike nail trims, and because of how tiny her paws are I worried about an accident if she moved quickly while I was trimming. She's a mini dachshund, and she is only 11 lbs, so her little "fingers" are itty bitty. I feel like it's easier to trim the big dog nails than hers because it's hard to hold each part of her nail still. If it moves when I'm trimming it can hurt her. So, because of what I'm describing that is the most difficult part and now that she's starting to dislike nail trims, I decided to give a grinder a shot. My review will be what it's like to experience nail grinding as a complete rookie which actually was easy, fun, and less stressful. When this arrived it seemed charged, but I did fully charge it up like I do any electronics since it's good practice. It does come with a USB-C cord. I have small hands similar to child sized, and it's small enough to feel comfortable in my hand. It's pretty lightweight, but I wouldn't say it feels cheap. There are two speeds with low and high. I've been using the high power on her, and it actually worked well. I turned it on and let her listen to it for a bit before I started. Skittish dogs may require multiple days of introduction and maybe working up to just completing one nail along with treats tied to the process. My girl tolerated it about the same as she does regular nail trims which actually surprised me because there is a motor in it. I know some dogs are absolutely terrified regarding these things, and I've been lucky. I wouldn't really call this unit quiet, but it's not excessively loud. Initially, when I was actually grinding that was a little tricky to get her on board. She wanted to move her face towards the grinder, for some reason, which kept blocking my view. Eventually she just became tired and let me do it on the front and back. I'd say she was about over it when I had about three left to do. So, that was impressive. I didn't even know how to use these, and I was looking at a few videos online. What I was mainly seeing was putting the grinder a certain way on the nail, but I could not get the right angle due to her size and comfort level since she wanted to be held. I needed to use it upside down. Upon more reading, it looks like you can do whatever you need to get the right angle. It actually felt satisfying to do as you can make the nails look nice and pretty. If an edge looks a little jagged, I just maneuver it around to smooth it out. The more I use it, the better I get at it. The smell of ground up nails isn't great and smells like burning. Lol. This obviously makes quite a bit of dust. I feel like most of the dogs in my life had all black nails where I couldn't see the quick which has always created so much anxiety within me while I'm doing them or if I go too far It's obviously stressful on the animal too if they had the nail cut too short once as they remember it. I feel like my dog's nails are always longer than they should be because of this. So, I noticed I had so much less anxiety using this tool then when I am using clippers because it's a slower and more gradual process. Obviously, if their nails are very long it will take much longer. Everything about this experience was better for her and I, and I even was able to get her nails shorter than I normally would as I had more control over the situation. I'm not sure how long one charge will go, because I don't want to run out of juice for follow-up trims. I will be fully switching over to this as I am officially done with the clippers. If the longevity isn't there I will come back and update. I'm so happy that I finally figured out something that worked better for us, and I'm not sure why it took so long, thank you.

Overall, this nail file is effective but my dog is just too skiddish. At low or high speed, the unit is quiet which is a huge benefit. It recharges via USB-c through the bottom and is advertised to have an excellent battery life between charges. An extra filing wheel/attachment was included so as one burns out or pulls it can be replaced. The only issue I encountered was that even at high speed, the nail file did not shorten my dog's nails too quickly. This is my first attempt at using an electric nail file so maybe this is typical or a safety precaution, or maybe I was not applying enough pressure on the nail. Otherwise, this is an excellent and well constructed tool.

I needed a new nail grinder for my little pup and this works perfectly. It arrived charged so I was able to test it out right away. You can see the before and after photos that it did a great job in just seconds. I hope it lasts awhile.
