First time using a small whetstone for sharpening pruners. I like the results. The whetstone will wear down. So don't be surprised. There are some good videos on how to sharpen pruners with a whetstone.

This stone from the brand Okastune is more of a rust remover than an actual sharpening stone. When used, it crumbles quickly, so it’s not effective for sharpening.I found another use for it — I mainly use it when my tools start to rust.It leaves a satin finish on the tool after use.

Great for frequent use. Keeps an edge on tools being sharpened. I recommend that you watch a tutorial on how to proceed with the proper technique of sharpening any specific tool. I have a separate stone to resurface each of my sharpening stones. Stones that aren't flat will cause uneven cutting edges. A sharp tool is safer to use than a dull one. Reason being that more force is needed to complete the task, which might make the tool slip from your hand and injuries may occur as well as your hand will tire quickly.

I've now purchased several of these Okatsune stones for home and work. The stones are extremely useful for cleaning off rust, resin buildup, and general gunk from surfaces you want to sharpen. So we use this Okatsune stone first, followed by other true sharpening stones. Works like a charm for cleaning even old surfaces. We've cleaned surfaces that were so dirty, you couldn't even tell what the metal was.Just be prepared for a pile of debris if there is a lot of cleaning.

This is the same kind of stone recommended by Niwaki to sharpen your hedge shears. Routine maintenance is a few strokes, clean then wipe on camellia oil. See the Niwaki site for video.

This sharpening stone may work really well but unfortunately mine arrived broken so I didn’t even get to open it and use it. I sent it back and received a refund. Most Okatsune things are excellent so I may have just been extremely unlucky.

This is GREAT for CLEANING (on many tools) and sharpening on "rough" cutting tools. It is NOT for Finer Cutting tools, ESPESIALLY Bonsai Tools. In other words, it is great for CLEANING...But, NOT for sharpening VERY Fine/Clean cutting tools.ABSOLUTELY WORTH using to "Field Sharpen/Clean" "Garden" tools!
