Small split rings of 1/4" it was not good for. Everything else this tool worked fine for.

I like that the protrusion is large enough to hold the ring open. I had tried another that had one too small and too thin to keep the ring open (I mean, on the inside of the pliers, there should be a pointed bump with which to hole the split ring open). It is a good size for your hand and is easy to use, once you get used to working with the smallest split rings.

I use a lot of small split rings when making jewelry. My tool started loosing it's grip pad on one side so I bought this tool & found out that if I tried to use it on any split ring smaller than about 10mm it doesn't work!!! It does work great on the larger size split rings. Unfortunately I use the smaller split rings.
