They don’t hold a charge very long.

I never took the time to realize that I could open up a rechargeable tool and replace the batteries instead of trashing it and buying a new tool. This has saved me a lot of money. I have a very cheap, rechargeable, handheld jigsaw. This is the kind of tool that you only use for certain small jobs but it works very well for those certain small jobs. It stopped charging no matter how long it was plugged in but it would work while plugged in. It shouldn’t be used while charging but that let me know the issue was likely the batteries. I opened it up and saw that the way the batteries were arranged to fit into the handle was devotedly not something that was going to be found pre-made. This little jigsaw has not been manufactured in well over a decade and parts have dwindled to nonexistent at best. No worries. I bought the batteries and some little tabs to connect them. Being a newbie and being a great at soldering, I connected the batteries in the correct arrangement by soldering them. Hey, I’m new to this. I didn’t know better yet, I’ve since discovered the correct method of connecting the batteries would be to spot weld them. I will definitely invest in a new, small battery tab spot welder prior to my next battery pack replacement. You live and learn and I’m happy to have learned a lot during reviving this cheap handheld rechargeable jigsaw. Next, I plan to try my hand at re-powering some worn out Mikita batteries. Those things are ridiculously expensive. Yay, I get to shop for a new tool and learn to properly use a spot welder. Retirement is great! I’ve been using these batteries for a long time and they have been recharged a dozen times without any issues. These high quality batteries are well made and have proven to be worth the purchase. I will buy more myself and I would recommend them to any family or friends looking to re-power over re-purchasing their expensive rechargeable tools, toys and gadgets.

I'd purchased another Ni-Cd battery set that I had to return as I didn't measure the size right so I didn't make that same mistake with this purchase, and their size specs were spot on so it fit the small handheld screwdriver I was aiming to repair perfectly. Voltage measured 1.2V from the package and once installed, I charged them up since they are Ni-Cds which have a battery voltage memory issue, so I'm hoping they will work fine. Giving 4 stars due to very flimsy terminal metal, which is welded onto the batteries at four points, but would have liked to see just a bit more thickness on those.Otherwise, the repaired device is now working so it appears so far, so good.

Used to rebuild the battery pack in an old drill driver. Seems to work as good as or better than new.

Fixed my Remminton beard trimmer that was 6 years old. Old battery charges and runs 30 seconds and dies. Runs 10 minutes or more like original. Had to solder the tabs but any solder pencil will work, In a pinch you could twist wires and tape. Fixed a $75 trimmer for 8 bucks.

The "Soldering tabs for easy make battery packs" are useless... And yes, I'm quoting from the listing. The tabs are oriented in a way that only allows for running in parallel. And even if you are trying to run them in parallel, the tabs are not long enough to reach the positive posts. At this point the tabs are in the way and make these practically useless. I would say steer clear and go with another brand. I'm definitely returning these.

My trusted rechargeable brand-name hand vacuum's NiCd batteries were giving up after over five years of sporadic use. Couldn't find replacement battery packs, thus I purchased these sub-C NiCd tabbed cells and made my own replacement pack.So far they revived my vacuum to as-new condition. The initial charge cycle took 18 hours (as expected considering the cell capacity and charger current rating). Just make sure you use the original NiCd charger - do not mix these up with NiMH cells or chargers! If you are not afraid of building your own battery pack, these NiCd cells are a perfect solution to fix your older appliances.( I also ordered 85mm battery pack heat shrink tubing to securely contain and insulate the packs - the blue tubing that you will find under this search term works perfectly for these size cells.)

These were exactly as advertised. I soldered 10 together to make a fresh battery pack for one of my cordless drills, and they seem to work fine.
