The cotton hat is very light weight which works well for a bee keeper's halloween costume. I do not know if this is desirable for an actual bee keeper though.

Bought it as a prop for a science fair project and it’s perfect for that. Seems too light for serious bee keeping

I felt it is like used. I felt smell of sweat. I think this is forworker's not for people for casual gardening. I did not like the product.

It works for your face/neck area. I used it for cicada protection when cutting grass. The apron part on front ties around your waste and netting has elastic the comes around the back of your neck - enough to cover your (long) hair which I’d put into a ponytail/bun. Today I had the issue that b/c I wasn’t wearing a collared shirt a cicada got into my shirt on the back of my neck. Glad I wasn’t using it for bee keeping (which I used to do). The hat fit on my head, but was a little big which made it fall and not stay secure on my head. I thought about stringing a long shoelace or rope through it to hold it secure (and still may). Also, somehow little gnats found there way in the net - not a huge deal but notable. I gave it 4 stars b/c it is serving its purpose for cicadas- I would seriously reconsider if it was for bees. Hope this helps.

When gardening here in Northern California the little flies are a problem. They seem to like eyes, noses and mouths, in that order. Some days it is difficult to work outside. This lightweight hat and screen does the trick. The hat comes folded like a spring, so don't be surprised if it snaps open unexpectedly. Can be used for bee keeping too I suppose. Inexpensive and reasonably durable.

we have a terrible problem with gnats in iowa. They fly under your glasses and up your nose if you aren't careful, so it limits the time outside. Rather than reapplying bug spray, I purchased a screen hat to wear to sit on the deck to read or watch the dogs and it is great. I know I look ridiculous, but comfort isn't always pretty :) The hat folds up very small, so at first I thought I got a doll hat, but it pops out and works great. It is cheaply made, so you have to expect to replace it after continued use, but it is very lightweigh and keeps the sun and bugs from my face.

I bought this hat because I needed to spray some yellow jackets and didn't want to get stung again. It seemed pretty flimsy and the brim was not wide enough to keep the mesh away from my skin. I felt like the yellow jackets would be able to sting me through the mesh. I can't really say if it saved me because the things were not active when I applied the spray. So it may have just given me a false sense of security. At least I felt like the bugs could not get under the mesh and get to me directly. I may never know - and I really don't want to find out. If I were going to get serious about being around stinging insects I think I would find something a bit more substantial and pay more. I don't regret buying it but I can't really recommend it.
