Works great and runs quietly. I also like that it lights up.

This is a great laptop cooling pad with 6 variable-speed fans and blue LED lights. Even on lower settings, you can feel the air flowing out and away from your laptop. On the side is a blue wheel that allows you to spin it back and forth to turn on or to adjust the fans lower and higher. There's an extra USB port on the pad to replace the one taken by this cooling pad. The grids over the fans protect them and allow air to flow freely. They are made from sturdy metal. The plastic shell that makes up the rest of the cooling pad is thick and should be able to take the beating or daily use and travel. I have been using this cooling pad non-stop for over a week now, and I don't think the fans have had to be turned any higher than halfway to keep my laptop running cool in 80+ degree situations. You might be wondering why I'm raving about this cooling pad, yet only gave it 4 stars. The reason is the blue LED lights. You can't turn them off or adjust their brightness in any way. When using your laptop at night in a darker room, these bright LEDs can get to be a touch overboard and distracting. As for this cooling pad doing what it's supposed to and looking great while doing so, this is 100% accomplished and I would recommend this cooling pad!🐻 *Statement/Disclaimer: This review is part of Amazon's Vine Program which provides products at a reduced cost in exchange for sincere/frank reviews. This is essentially six computer fans with a plastic frame and metal mesh as a protection. It works much better than I expected. I have a lap desk that i have my laptop on when sitting at the couch, but it's just got a flat surface and so doesn't have great ventilation. This neatly solves that problem - set this on the desk, set the laptop on this, and I'm golden. It has a male-male USB2 cord that goes in the side of your laptop and then plugs into the left side of this. There's a second USB2 port that you can use (USB2 so perhaps a mouse or keyboard or something else low-intensity) and then a scroll wheel to control the fan speed. On lowest mode it's barely audible. On highest it's about the same as my laptop at moderate fan (ie how fast/loud it goes when I've got a few things open and am averaging in the 50% CPU use range - so it's not as loud as my laptop gets when on max). I like the amount of air and the wide distribution of it (not just focused in 1-2 spots - it's over the whole thing).I've never thought of it before, but I do like the advice in the description of using one of these to keep a modem or router or such cool too - this could extend the lifespan of anything with a USB port by quite a bit without adding much to your house's noise load.
