The idea of metal detecting is cool - you're literally going out and searching for buried treasure! Having a large walking metal detector is great, but once you find something and start digging, they are quite cumbersome to try to pinpoint where your loot is. Still in the hole? In the pile you just dug up? This wand will tell you!First, there's both a silent mode which vibrates, and a beeping mode. Very nice for not wanting to annoy folks around you. Then I went around and tried it with various coins and materials, and aside from a very small (pea-sized) piece of jewelry, it found every piece from a decent distance. You can see in the photo I used it on a US quarter and the dial is almost maxxed out.It takes a 9 volt battery, but the battery compartment has a screw-on cap with a rubber gasket, which is perfect for any kind of wet environment. The holster is nice too, but the real winner is the springy strap you can use to make sure you don't drop and lose it in the sand! I put the ring end on the handle loop, and the other end has a clip closure that you can use on a belt loop, for example. Can't wait to try it on the beach!

Impressive little handheld metal detector. Dropped the tiny little screw from my ring doorbell faceplate and it fell between the deck and the house and it was gone. This thing actually pinpointed where the teeny tiny little screw was in the dirt and i used a magnet to grab it. It is a plastic and lightweight metal detector, but it's doesn't really feel like it's made from durable plastic. It's just basic cheap molded plastic. If dropped from any substantial height onto any hard surface such as concrete i don't see this thing making it. No drop protection on it at all. For the price point it should have some rubberized skin or over mold protection on it.Function wise it's actually decent. It picks up quickly and offers 3 different alerts. Beeping sound, beeping plus vibration and vibration only. It has a good audible beeping since and a good strong vibration. That along with the display to show how close/far the item is from the tip of the metal detector.Be a good fun thing to take to the beach to run around with when not swimming. Also around the house for finding screws or nuts and bolts. It is a little on the expensive side IMO for the build quality of it.

Okay, this is fun! I've always wanted to metal detect. I wasn't sure this would work for in-ground searches, since it seems geared toward more personal wand searches. Lo and behold, it's great for both! It comes with everything needed including carrying case, battery and spring keychain so you don't drop it. The instruction manual is simple and straight-forward, lets you know how to test it and how to use it. I ran it through my backyard and so far I've found 9 screws, 12 nails, a hinge and a handful of washers where an old shed was torn down. It says that it's waterproof, I'm going to try it with some change in the sink next. I am having too much fun exploring, can't wait to get it out on a hiking trail!
