Installation instructions
- Pull out the plug;
- Loosen the EGR valve fixing nut, take off the EGR valve on the vehicle, pay attention to take off the gasket; in some vehicles, the gasket will stick to the cushion, and it must be cleaned;
- Take out the new EGR valve and gaskets, and tighten the EGR valve fixing nut ;
- Plug in the plug.

This generates a code P0404 within a day of reset. The code returns consistently. It is worse than the 22 year old part that it replaced. Read the reviews, believe them. Unfortunately I installed this after the return window. Would definitely return and not buy another.

The part bolted right on however the gasket did not line up with the bolts. Had to modify it . Hopefully it works.

The CEL stayed on even after this was installed. The description suggests you just bolt on and go but more research revealed the car would need to go to a dealer so they could make the ECM recognize the new valve. I ended up getting a good used original GM valve instead and it was recognized. The bolt holes in the supplied gasket are too close together as well, but that is easily fixed.

This EGR valve continued to set code P0401 even after changing from the defective original GM EGR valve that was causing this code to be triggered. (my original valve was 21 years old). Either this valve is NOT calibrated and correct for the 3800 series 2 engine (as stated), or it is so inferior in build quality that the GM computer does not recognize it. I DO NOT recommend this valve to anyone. My P0401 code only stopped triggering my Check Engine Light after installing a higher quality EGR valve form Standard Motor Products.

The metal gasket does not line up with the mounting studs. Had to get an OE gasket from the dealer.
