I installed this wireless backup camera system about 10 weeks ago on my truck and the initial setup was genuinely easy. The magnetic mount stuck solidly to my tailgate and the monitor just plugs into the cigarette lighter, no wiring or drilling needed. The 7-inch touchscreen is clear and responsive, much better than the tiny screen on my old backup camera. The 1080p image quality is good during daylight and the night vision LEDs help in darker conditions, though it’s not as clear as daytime viewing. The auto on/off feature works well - camera activates when I turn on the monitor which is convenient. However, the 12000mAh battery doesn’t last nearly as long as expected. Even with the solar charging panel, I’m getting maybe 4-5 days of use before it needs charging, not the weeks they suggest. The solar charging seems pretty slow and doesn’t keep up with daily use unless it’s in direct sunlight for hours. The magnetic mount is strong but I worry about it getting stolen since it’s so easy to remove. Signal strength is good within about 200 feet but starts getting spotty beyond that. The 32GB SD card and loop recording work fine for dash cam footage. Build quality feels decent and it’s held up through rain and car washes with the IP69 rating. For the convenience factor it’s worth it, just don’t expect the battery to last as long as advertised.

You have experienced the double pulse that comes from depending on guessing if you have ever been in the position of guiding a thirty-foot trailer into a dark campground as companions waved spotlights like runway workers throughout the process. Since I installed this magnetic wireless camera package on our travel trailer just minutes before we set off on our trip three weekends ago, every mile that has passed since then has seemed much calmer. This includes everything from the backing maneuver at the trailhead to the frenetic fuel stop on the highway. Detailed below is the unfiltered account of how those little lenses came to be a permanent fixture in my collection of road tools. On the morning of departure, there was already a lot of activity with packing lists and food for toddlers. The base of each camera was put into the back steel bumper, and then I gently pulled it to ensure that I had a solid grasp. Finally, I touched a single button on the touchscreen that was located within the cab. There was no need to go through options since the live view displayed immediately and side-by-side. Given that my typical pre-trip routine leaves me with almost no tolerance for tangled wires, that rapid victory was really important. The option to peek at the display and determine whether or not my lane was actually free before committing to the blinker was a game-changing feature that I observed within the first hour of using the device. It used to seem like the traffic on the interstate was a blur behind the massive side mirrors, but now it appears as accurate forms being shown in real time. There was a reduction in the white-knuckle grip that I used to acquire whenever semi-trucks passed by as a result of that quick input. Even my co-pilot, who is renowned for anxious gasps, was able to relax enough to begin navigating playlists rather than checking passing lanes.

I am now able to state that my anxieties have forgiven me after three weekends of driving my 28-foot trailer through suburban streets, mountain slopes, and a famously crowded coastline park. This is nearly completely due to the magnetic solar wireless backup camera that I have been using. With my little knowledge of technology, I tend to be wary of any piece of equipment that claims to be able to be set up in only one minute. However, on a bright and beautiful Saturday, I moved to the back bumper, positioned the camera with a soft click, and watched the display power up. It dawned on me that I was immediately able to view the alley behind me without having to use any of the tools. The tone for the weeks that followed was established by that very little triumph. Prior to this, the process of lining up a truck and trailer required a dance consisting of inching forward, stepping out, frowning, and repeating the process until neighbors came over to assist. After that, I position the seven-inch screen so that it is against the steering column, reverse in a single smooth roll, and allow gravity to settle the coupler onto the ball on the very first attempt. With only that one adjustment, we were able to cut ten minutes off of each departure and get rid of the pre-trip worry that used to linger for a considerable amount of time after the engine had started.

Love, love, love this camera and monitor. We’ve been full time RVers for 9 years and own a Grand Design Solitude. The camera that came with it was marginal at best. My wife follows me in her car when we travel between Ft Collins Colorado and Tucson. I could never tell if the “dot” on the screen was her or someone else. She has a red car and that didn’t help. The power went out to the camera so I purchase the DVKNM Magnetic RV backup camera. The picture on the screen is clear and crisp with vivid matched colors. I like that I can remove the camera from the rig while spending the winters in Tucson or summers in Ft Collins. When we’re ready to travel I can just snap the camera back on and go. The camera is robust and easy to adjust the angle of the image. The screen controls are very intuitive making changes easily. I love the larger screen. There is no lag time from camera to screen. I told my wife it’s like I’m driving and sitting on the top rear of the rig at the same time. I’ve had no drops in signal while driving. Very happy!
