Needed to replace the old fixed (and quite short) water boarding ladder on my pontoon boat, and this was a great replacement.It was very easy to install in the original ladder's location, I had the old one off and this one on in about 20 or 30 minutes. The ladder folds and deploys very easy, and telescopes nicely as well. It's secured with a simple nylon strap and button, which can easily be reached from the water without needing someone on the boat to deploy it in case you get a little over excited and jump in and forget to deploy it before hand. The length is perfect where its at on the back of my boat, with the bottom rung reaching below the waterline so you can easily step up onto it. The steps themselves have that grip tape on them to prevent slipping, and the whole thing can be folded out of the water with no problem. My only complaints are that when deployed the ladder doesn't lock into place, so it can swing a bit as you climb (think kind of a like a rope ladder, but less exaggerated)

I’m not using these on a boat, but they sure look great. These are well-made. They are basically assembled and all that’s needed is to mount them. The hinge and folding of these works as it should be. I’m using these for steps up to a higher storage shelf I have above my shed door. Easy to fold out of the way.
