"Replacement Camper Door Lock, Aluminum Alloy RV Door Locks Trailer Door Lock-1"As you can see in the description above, the lock is reportedly aluminum alloy. The screws, however, and the locking bolts are most definitely stainless steel! This lock fits my Coleman RV perfectly and my husband had it installed in under 5 minutes, so add 'ease of installation' to the mix of plusses. The only visual differences I can see are that the interior manual lock, the typically red flip lock, is orange on this upgraded lock we just installed. The lock works exactly the same as the original, and comes with 4 matched keys that will open both locks. The keys do feel a little lightweight, but if used with care, they should last. The stainless steel screws and lock bolts were a nice surprise, especially after seeing all of the galvanization/oxidation on the old screws he removed. These should hold up much better.Opening the flip handle on the exterior door is noticeably smoother and and my door pops open now, where before, it sat there until I pulled it open using the vertical flip out door handle. I MUCH prefer not having to try to get that door open with that little flap of a door pull! I didn't realize I had a problem, or that it could be fixed, until that problem got fixed by installing a better lock. If you have an older RV you probably know exactly what I'm talking about! With the steel bolts and added weight of this lock, I think it will offer more security, and I'm happy with not struggling with a dinky little flip door anymore!

Needed a replacement for the old trailer door. These fit in the existing hole which made installation really smooth. Good sturdy material and the lock feels very secure.

I have a smallish travel trailer that had a wonky door handle for the last two years, it wouldn't unclasp when the weather wasn't just right, and It's possible it could have been tampered with. So I went out on a whim and picked this unit up, not matching any serial numbers or models or anything, just went for it based on overall shape. I didn't install the new one right away, but when the key broke off in the lock, opportunity presented itself for a whole swap. I recommend an extra hand for the process because everything is up in the air, and swinging, as well as intricate parts made for a few trial and error efforts before getting everything to line up and fit just right. Everything was pretty much as expected for trying to aim small screws at their opposing counterpart holes through a door thickness, The main hold ups were figuring out which screws were right for that thickness accounted for. The unit did come with two sets, and if the original was identical it could have been three, but they were a bit different, some female sockets were not as deep as others, so the screws we used ended up being about half longer and half shorter, again trial and error. The one thing we did use the original hardware on was the door frame latch strike, because they were extremely short and smaller diameter than what was provided. The two most irritating instances were the pass through locking mechanism having to be swiveled to the same layout as the lock handle in reddish orange. The other difficulty was that the lock lever had to be retracted all the way, and catch the small prong on the inner handle before tightening the two sides of the door handles together, This product came with 4 keys, so you will have plenty to go around. All and all, worth it and relieved.

The first thing I need to say is that I should have checked the fit, like the product description says, before I ordered this. Amazon invited me to review it as part of the Vine program. It doesn't fit my 1999 RV, which has a much wider hole in the door. But I can tell you about this product.First the exterior dimension 3 3/8" w by 4 1/4" tall (87mm x 109mm). There is 7/16" (11mm) clearance all around behind the lip, which has a preinstalled neoprene gasket. The inside dimensions are similar except that a handle protrudes 1.25" toward the middle of the door and .75" away from the door. From the edge of the bracket to the edge of the door is exactly .75"/20mm.The handle can be mounted as either right-opening or left-opening. There is a single, thin metal strike plate to mount on the door (1"x3") and a larger raised strike plate to mount on the frame (1 3/16"x3 13/16" : 31mm x 98mm). The construction is metal casting with a dipped black coating, steel moving parts, and an orange plastic locking lever. The latches, handles, and keys work well and smoothly. The distance from the outside surface of the door and the latch is fixed at 15mm (19/32"). The distance to the inside surface will vary based on the thickness of your door. The minimum thickness is 30mm (1 3/16")There are 4 matching keys which fit both locks. The one lock releases the external lever while the other extends and withdraws a small deadbolt (10mmx8mm) which extends in the same hole above or below the latch. On the inside there is no lock for the latch but the external lever can be left in the locked position using the key. The orange locking lever inserts and withdraws the small deadbolt.
