Your cart is empty.Stopping is just as important as going in cycling, so why leave that duty up to inferior brake pads? The Kool Stop Dura2 insert is a newly designed road pad insert. The pad is thicker than their standard Dura type for longer life. Plus, it has a 7.65 mm contact width for narrow rims and cut outs for reduced weight. Finally, the pads sit flat on the rim for superior modulation. If you want to go with a pad that you know can handle the responsibility of slowing and stopping, then you'll be glad you chose Kool Stop. I am a fan of Kool Stop pads, especially if they are the Salmon colored ones.

I don't know what these are made from. But it must be "kryptonite-grip".They work so much better than Shimano pads on my 105 road brakes that there's no comparison.I don't see how a disc brake could work any better since I can lock up my wheels with these pads on my rim brakes.

Better than the stock pads that came with the bike.

I’ve had these on my road bike for two years and they still screech braking downhill. Good for scaring the deer away.

Very pleased. I had never before used a Kool Stop brake pad before and I had most definitely never used a dual compound brake pad before I installed these. So I was pretty excited to try these out. I was going to use these pads against a regular aluminum rim. My first ride on these rims was a few hours after a pretty good Southern California rain storm. The roads were wet and the tires were wet but there were no major puddles on the streets. Anyway, at first I braked cautiously knowing I had new pads installed but as the afternoon ride wore on I was convinced, these worked great being a little damp out. I was braking with confidence. No squeaking, no mushyness. And they have proven themselves to be reliable in the dry weather as well. No brake shoe toe in adjustment needed, I just replaced the old, worn pad with these. No complaints.

Better by far than the ones that came with my Shimano Ultegra 6800 calipers. The Shimano supplied pads were absolutely useless if they became moist. They would also pick up grit from the road and then carve grooves into the contact patch on my rim. Since switching to Kool Stop pads, I haven't shaved off any metal from the rims, and stopping power when wet has improved quite a bit. These pads actually are very friendly to my rim, as claimed. I imagine the all-salmon colored pads will be a step up in wet braking, but I haven't tried them yet. I was looking for a more versatile pad that wouldn't lock up, since I only ride with a front brake. Swapping out the pads was incredibly simple, instructions are on the package.

I've been using Kool-Stop brake pads for several years now. In 2009, I installed a set of Kool-Stop Salmon V-brake pads on my Trek 8500. They are excellent all-weather pads that offer fantastic braking. So, when the time came to replace the pads on my Specialized road bike, I opted for the dual compound Dura 2. The dual compound pads combine the "stickiness" of the salmon compound with the more controlled traditional compound.Today it rained just enough that I could go out and test the new pads. When damp, they perform just as well as the traditional compound in dry conditions. When dry, the pads grip better. Braking distance and effort decrease noticeably. Because of the decreased effort needed to brake, the new pads take a bit of getting used to. Otherwise, one might accidentally stop short and take a trip over the handlebars.

GREAT ROI! Inexpensive upgrade that has better stopping power. I'm new to road biking (about 2 months now) and purchased a brand new Cannondale road bike that came with Tektro brake calipers/pads. I wasn't satisfied with the braking power so I initially looked to replace the entire front and rear brake calipers. After reading some bike forums, it turns out that the brake calipers were adequate and that I could get really good "bang for the buck" if I just replaced the brake pads. So doing some searching online, I found these KoolStop brake pads. Installed them and took the bike for a night ride of 14 miles. No scientific testing was done no my part but I could tell that the stopping power improved from the original pads that I had on the bike. For the cost, this is definitely an easy upgrade that'll improve your braking performance. Highly recommend before considering trashing your original brake calipers. How was it to install? Simple. As mentioned, I'm new to road biking and I was able to install the front/rear brake pads in less than 10 minutes. All you need is an allen wrench and a clean rag to wipe your hands clean once completed. Tip- Remember how the original pads are aligned (left/right side) when you take them off so that you can make sure that the KoolStop replacements are aligned the same way. Just unscrew the bolt on the pads with the allen wrench and slide the old pads off and slide the KoolStops on...it's that easy!
