Works if you can hold the tines in place while turning the jar. They come loose and slip off of the lid.

Vendor contacted me, they send me a replacement, and yes I am happy to report, that it worked, I'm guessing the first product was just a one in a mishap case. The new one works like a charm.Thanks..I can't return it anymore, but the product is a great idea, but wrong design, all is metal, so it does not hold the lids many times as it should, is missing some sort of material that does not allow the lid to slip out it.

This thing is a complete piece of trash. It will not tighten around the lid of anything and hold it well enough to twist the top off. The lid will simply spin against the grippers. I tried it right out of the box. Didn’t work. I hung it up with she tape and screws provided. Still won’t work. I tried large bottles, small bottles, medium bottles, already opened bottles! This will NOT help you!

Little more expensive than I wanted, but it does work pretty good. Must use the screws or there's no way it would hold up against the twisting action. I have mild arthritis in my hands wrists and elbows and I can use this pretty easily. I had tendonitis in my left wrist and so I even managed to use this with just one hand although it was a little bit of a trick I still got it done. That in and of itself is fairly impressive. I read a lot of reviews with complaints of they can't see it underneath the cabinet but this would be easily resolved if you put a board underneath your cabinet and then mounted it to the board. I feel that this complaint is not really valid to the product so much as the location the users are choosing to put it. But I'm a handy girl so it's not a big deal for me certainly not a deal-breaker. The ribbed edges are very grippy without much effort. It does take a little getting used to holding the jar and spinning the thing till it tightens on the jar and then rotating the jar itself to open it. Feels a little goofy but once adjusted to it it works really well. Even better than the old school V style jar openers which are garbage these days since most of them only have teeth on one side they're pretty much useless. This has three sets of teeth that attack it from three sides, much more effective. I chose this one over the handheld Style openers because of my arthritis I can't turn my wrists like that nor do I have the hand strength. This is pretty much the easiest one I found and fits the most variety of Jar sizes. I could open something as large as a small coffee can, or something as small as a soda bottle. All in all good purchase for 20 bucks.
