Furnace

The traditional Japanese "Tadasu ironmaking method" is used, with iron sand and charcoal as raw materials, mixed and placed in an earthen furnace. The furnace temperature is controlled at 1000-1100℃, and the smelting is continued for 3-5 days through manual air blowing (Tadasu wind) to form a sponge-like iron block (milled iron).

Forging

The core iron is wrapped with skin iron, heated to 800-900℃ and repeatedly forged (usually folded 10-15 times) to form a metal structure of tens of thousands of layers, which improves the toughness and hardness of the samurai sword.

Fold repeatedly

The number of forging times has been increased to more than 15 times, forming a 32768-layer structure. The surface of the blade presents a "ground texture" texture (metal streamlines similar to wood grain), which reflects a silky luster under light.

Quenching

Heat to 750-800℃, insert vertically into the quenching medium, stay for 5-10 seconds and then remove. Due to the difference in the thickness of the covering soil, the cooling speed is different during quenching, and a wavy oxide layer is formed on the edge of the blade, which is the core symbol of the aesthetics and craftsmanship of the samurai sword.

NOTICE

The katana comes with a silk sword bag in the package, but the wooden stand in the product picture is not included.
If you see a small amount of sawdust attached to the blade surface during unpacking (from the natural craftsmanship of the scabbard), please wipe it gently with a soft cotton cloth or lint-free paper towel. Do not use alcohol/solvents to contact the blade surface to preserve the original texture of the steel while avoiding chemical damage.
The blade has been finely sharpened at the factory. Please make sure your hands are dry before touching it. When holding it, hold the handle tightly to avoid scratches.
Please place the samurai sword in a child-safe place and make it clear to minors that "sharp blades are not toys".
