Bought this for my 7 year old for Easter. He loves the video game splatoon so this matched his game play perfectly. Very easy for him to load, about 15 balls at a time). Easy for him to cock and shoot. This is spring loaded so you have to cock to shoot but that's perfect for a first timer having a paintball gun. It shoots farther than you think but the power for impact is 30-40ft. I bought zombie targets that we hang on the tree in the back yard and he stand on the deck and shoots. I highly recommend for any first timer little kid!

Fun but beware with children as this actually does hurt! My 8 year old son received 2 of these for Christmas and after reading previous reviews I understood these to be painless unless hit up close. I can assure you this is not true. My son, my father and I all had welts from distances of 30 feet or so. My son ended up in tears and didn't want to play again. I will purchase protective clothing for him before we use these again. They do fwork well and with the proper padding I believe will be extremely fun.

I'm going to combine this review with reviews for 2 other JT Splatmasters.I bought 4 z100s,a z200, and a z300. I set up a course in our backyard and played with our 7 yr old. Even though it's recommend for ages 9 and up he had fun with it.The z100 was the worst. When it did shoot, it did not go too far and had was least accurate. The biggest issue was getting it to shoot. Balls broke inside and caused the gun not to be able to fire very often. We had 4 of the z100s and within minutes all 4 were clogged and were unusable without a thorough cleaning. Both the gun and the clip had problems when balls broke. I would not recommend the z100.The z200 was the second best. It had decent distance and accuracy. It was more playable than the z100. Balls did break in the z200 as well but if you shot a few times it generally cleared up and was usable again without having to completely clean it out. The z200 was OK, but for an extra $10 I would definitely go with the z300.The z300 was awesome. I really liked this gun. I wish I had just bought a few of these instead of getting the z100s and z200. Plenty of velocity for a backyard game and very accurate. This did also have balls break in it but like the z200 if you fired a couple shots it generally cleared up enough on it's own to keep playing. This is by far the best one and would highly recommend it.

These are a lot of fun. Even our younger kids (ages 6-7) can use these and have fun. The paintballs can hurt a little if they catch you in the right place, but nowhere near the pain a real paintball inflicts. The shotgun holds enough ammo for a 2-3 minute game (about 20 shots). We were all very impressed with how far they shoot and how accurate! We also love that we're not wasting money on CO2!Very fun toy and built to last! Considering buying more so that we can expand our games to include more neighbors.

I ordered the gun and extra ammo for my grandsons birthday. The gun would not shoot either the ammo that came with it or the extra I ordered. I returned the gun for a replacement and the new one was the same. It would not shoot the ammo, so I returned the second gun and the extra ammo for a refund. Amazon was very prompt with the replacement gun and the refund for both items. However the both guns were duds.

My son is 8 years old. He has the a bunch of guns. His dad is army so he knows how to handle a gun and we live in TN so there is room to safely use them!HE LOVES THIS GUN!!! I LOVE THIS GUN!!! Best part for me is he can load it on his own... and pump it on his own! The paintballs I ordered washes RIGHT off with water so when he misses his target it is EZ clean up!! Moms HAPPY, Sons HAPPY DAD is HAPPY this is a great toy!!

I am hosting a large group for a Zombie-themed party this fall and wanted to set up a paintball shooting gallery, but didn't want to pay the high price for C02 powered guns and risk someone getting hurt with the high powered paintballs. These guns are perfect! Solid, remarkably accurate, and inexpensive -- I will set up targets at 30-50 feet and won't have to worry about anyone misfiring and taking someone's eye out. I bought four and each one was consistent in the quality and good solid feel. The paintballs that are sold by SplatMaster are reasonably priced and best of all, biodegrade quickly so I won't have a big mess to clean up after the party.

I'm not a gun person, but my 6 year old begged for a paint gun this year. I told him he would shoot his eye out, but after much begging and pleading and some common sense basics, he was well versed in loading and safely handling this gun. He is pretty mature for his age, so not all kids could take this on. (The neighbors kids found it and almost shot the chicken in the yard before I stepped in and stopped them). Great gun, and easy for my son's small hands...nothing to difficult. I make sure to put it on the high shelf when not supervised and would recommend you do the same. They could shoot their eye out!
