- This tool is used to bar the engine over for service procedures, installs to engage the flywheel teeth and rotate the engine using standard square drive hand tools.

Used with 1/2" drive wrench.

I ordered 3 of these. All 3 broke the drive gear as soon as we put a ratchet on it.

Bought this barring tool to replace another one I bought 2 years before. Tool came with a broken gear right out of the box. Being the price it is you get what you pay for, should have bought a higher quality one.

Ordered first one gear broke after engine turned about an 1/8 of the way around, they sent me another one broke same place just as quickly on another engine. I never sent the first one back too much trouble for a few dollars so they charged me for both, to bad they are to small for boat anchors🥲!!! I never write reviews but thought this product deserved a few minutes of my time, to save you some of yours.

I used it one time on the same truck doing a tune up on a DD 15 and on the second rotation it broke on the gear for no apparent reason it had me thinking it was in gear but it was a automatic transmission so go figure very very pour quality. I had brought 3 and they all broke on their first time use

This engine barring tool worked exceptionally well for me to rotate a DD13 Detroit engine. I did need to apply some oil/lube on the gears and shafts to keep it moving smoothly.This will only work on engines that have a two-bolt access cover on the side(s) of the bell housing. The tool mounted securely to the bell housing and I was able to use a long 3/8” extension to get my ratchet out where I could spin it.This tool is ideal in the right application, so know what you have and what you need.

90% of my work is on the dd platform, bought so I don't have to go to th3 tool room every time I need to bar an engine over, installed on a dd15, the first drive gear snapped in half with the slightest amount of pressure, there is rust on the inside of the gear where it broke, so it was cracked before I even used it.
