It's a great item. IF - you love collecting and using rainwater and have a purpose intended already. You can even create irrigation lines, utilizing gravity and the volume of water. I store mine indoors in freezing temperatures. The gutter lines will need manipulation and re-directing for peak collection. Also, a secondary screen may be necessary at the inlet for keeping breeding insects out (i.e. mosquitoes). The brass valves may be wrapped with plumber tape for better fit and seal, as well as retrofitted with superior screws retaining the handles of the valves. More cumbersome than heavy, the proper size hand truck makes this an easy lift even for the less capable heavy lifter.

It's very thin plastic so its not easy to screw in the spigots.Second the spigots are so small so when you install them you can't open or close them!Had to buy replacement spigots with longernecks to resolve that problem. The top planter are is pretty useless and just collect mud and water.Update: see my photo. After first big thunderstorm the barrel can't handle incoming water from the downspout and the top just popped up! Both spigots were open during the rain but they are too small for the downpour. Horrible design. In addition can not get refund from the seller because of very poor customer service

Unfortunately we've had nothing but problems with the rain barrel. The holes for the spigots were stripped so both spigots constantly leaked. We tried contacting the company & got no response. We then had to purchase pvc plugs to plug up the holes and also found out that not only was the inside threading stripped, but the exterior of the hole leaks. We've had to dump this 90 gallon rain barrel twice for repairs, then had to purchase a marine glue to seal the leaks. The screws for the top screen rusted within a week of it raining. Highly disappointed and frustrated as I've spent the last 3 weekends coming up with solutions and having to purchase items to fix this thing

Arrived quickly so we were able to start using it at the beginning of summer. Works out great or watering outdoor plants. Blends in well at the back corner of the house. It's large but 90 gallons works out good for me.

Wonderful rain barrel. We love having the planter on top. We didn't change anything or add anything to be able to use this barrel. Works well for holding water and as long as I remember it's there, it's great for watering the garden. We've gotten many compliments on the attractiveness. And own 2.

This is both beautiful & useful, as we are severe drought; something all of California can afford and use.....I site this as it can be purchased with no after purchase regret. I got a beautiful plastic plant to sit inside and wait for the downpour I pray for daily. Thank you to the manufacturer. It is a great product, and to Amazing Amazon for making it possible.

Figured I would wait till after the first rain to write my review. I removed the screen and put an old nylon stocking over the down spout into the container. I learned to do this the hard way when I had my washing machine drain going into my garage sink and plunged up the 4 in main drain under the house with lint. Sense then I re-routed the drain hose to an outside barrel which I just purchased another of these Good Ideas barrels but the 50 gallon one to match the other 90 gallon.Anyway, you know that little drain hole in the front... it ONLY drains the portion where you might sit a plant. When the main unit gets full, it just runs around very top and spills over the front. That little drain hole I mention is about an inch above the bottom of the planter box. Soooo, that's where your mosquitos will lay their eggs. I not recommending this, because it ruin any warren-tee, but I used a 3/4 inch hole saw and drilled the hole out from the front all the way to the inside and also cut a slit down to the bottom of the inside planter box so the water will ALL drain out.Other then that...no leaks, I like it!

PRO: Looks nice. Sturdy. Good size. Brass spigots.CON: Entire top is wasted space. Screened drain area is only 5"x5" and is all plastic - not wire mesh - and DOES NOT DRAIN! Water just runs right off it instead of through it. I even took tooth picks to see if I could open the holes to let the water go through. No luck. The "planter top" has no drainage holes so live plants are going to drown. It is 7" deep and 24" in diameter which is way too big for artificial plants. And there is no way to anchor the plants down in a high wind. I ended up drilling holes in the bottom of the planter and placing wire screen mesh over the holes. Anchored it down with a few river rocks. We got rain the next day and it worked well. The spigots look nice and are made well but do not drain very quickly. Stream is slower than my other cheaper barrels. The barrel is an entirely closed system. You cannot see how much water you have and I sure don't know how it could be cleaned in the fall. Overall this barrel could have been designed a whole lot better for the money. The only reason I kept it is because I did not want to pay return shipping on it. It is big and heavy.
