I really wanted to like this. I liked the rainfall feature and the filter containers that could be reconfigured to meet my needs. They are big enough to hold a filter bag full of carbon, meaning I only need to replace the carbon instead of buying entire pre-made filters. However, the sections are nearly impossible to get apart. If there is a trick to it, I haven't found it yet. Instead, I've cut myself and broken a section trying to get them apart so I could change/clean the materials. Today I just couldn't take it anymore and am tossing it. Very frustrating.

Super disappointed with the longevity of this filter. It only lasted a couple months, no more than 4. I went back to a HOB model. I LOVED this filter but it went out and for the price it should have at least lasted a year.

I have two tanks: a 20 tall and a 40 breeder. I had an issue with the one for the 20 tall a couple months in and Hygger sent me another one right away - and that one's working perfectly. I love that the 3 chambers can be replaced/moved around/customized if you'd like a different media in them. The options for the output are great. I personally prefer the rain drop option - which aerates my water perfectly without adding an air pump, gives nice visuals, and stimulates breeding in some fish. The chambers are see through - you can actually see the beneficial bacteria on the media balls. Cleaning and care is simple and easy. The pump itself is quiet (at first it wasn't, but then I realized there was air trapped in it. I turned the filter upside down to let the air escape and it's been perfect since then). All-in-all, I don't see myself getting a different filter for a beginner-mid level hobby tank.

I've had such a hard time finding the right filter and pump, but this one finally does the job. I have a unique setup where my tank is under hanging cabinets, and my last two purchases didn't fit properly because they extended way too high over the rim of the tank. Another issue with the others were that they all sat ON the rim and therefore moved quite a bit when i needed to pull the tank out. I love that this is submersible and you can remove one of the filter boxes for a lower water level tank as well. Even with only two of the filters being used it's working perfectly on my 20 gallon long. I've only had to clean it once so far and it was an easy task. I don't find it to be loud and enjoy the sound of the rain attachment. To the last point, being able to lower the arm even more is a great feature as well.

I purchased this for my mom who is a senior because she wanted something that was quite and of good quality. Reading the reviews we were excited thinking this would be a good purchase. IT ISN"T. It makes an on and off grinding noise which keeps my mom up at night. Very disappointed.

Think a more suitable snapping system to stack the media boxes together would be nice. This is a flimsy easy to break fastening design. The pump is extremely quiet, great water flow from the rain discharge wand. Ease of cleaning once you get the boxes apart.

I picked this up to assist in overfiltering a snail breeding tank. This thing is seriously impressive for my uses! The spray bar seems to make the flow more manageable for me, but for larger tanks I would definitely be using the spray nozzle with venturi. I would advise trimming down the venturi, it's a bit long right out of the box. It comes with a USB to Outlet adapter, but it can easily be plugged directly into an available USB port for power which is how I'm using it. Extremely handy and I wish more aquarium products have this versatility.

Good value, very quiet. However, it gets clogged easily in a planted tank (can be resolved by rinsing out the different filter sections). I like the waterfall extensions. My fish were sick after delivery, and removing the parts of the filter for the medication was an awesome function. Great for a small tank!

I was initially hopeful about the hygger 3-in-1 Aquarium Filter due to its multifunctionality and compact design. However, my experience has been disappointing. After just a few weeks of use, the pump ceased functioning entirely, rendering the filter useless. This failure not only disrupted the filtration process but also compromised the oxygenation and circulation features that are vital for maintaining a healthy aquarium environment.Pros:Compact Design: The filter's design is space-saving and fits well in smaller tanks.Pretty quietCons:Pump Failure: The pump stopped working after only a few weeks, leading to a complete loss of filtration, oxygenation, and circulation functions.Reliability Issues: Such an early malfunction raises concerns about the overall durability and quality of the product. While the concept of a 3-in-1 filter is appealing, the hygger Aquarium Filter fell short in terms of reliability. A pump failure so soon after purchase is unacceptable, and I cannot recommend this product to fellow aquarium enthusiasts seeking dependable filtration solutions.
