As a faithful HP customer, I am VERY satisfied with the purchase of this MFP. I have owned a HP DeskJet 682, HP 895 CSE and a HP 7760 Photosmart printers in the past, and they never let me down once. Here are the highlights of the printer. Note that I did not cover every detail, just the highlights that I encountered after 2 days of using it.Setup------Unpacking the printer from the box was quite easy and straight forward. Just removing the plastic, cardboard and styrofoam from the printer and parts. This part took me about 30 minutes (I was just taking my time and not rushing). The printed instructions were easy to read and follow. After plugging in the printer and turning it on, the printer guided you through the steps on how to install the print cartridges, and wireless if you choose to use wireless.Installing the print cartridges was not too hard at all. You first have to twist the plastic seal on the cartridge counter clock wise really hard until it comes off. Just open the printer, and I recommend installing the cartridges from left to right. After installing them, close the printer, and it will prompt you to do a test page and a calibration. This took a few minutes.Installing the photo tray was a little tricky for me. I was able to get it aligned in the printer, but when I attempted to print a test photo, I got an error stating to lower the photo tray. After about 20 minutes removing and aligning it, I found out the issue. You have to make sure that you insert the tray all the way into the printer. Make sure that you apply a good amount of pressure.Connecting the printer to my wireless router was easy. The initial setup asked if you want to use wireless. After selecting wireless, the printer was able to detect my router and my neighbors as well. Depending if you have encryption enabled on your router, you will then have to enter the Network Security Key. After entering the Network Security Key, the printer connected to the wireless router.Installing the software was a pain, so bear with me here. I then attempted to install the software next. Mistake on my part. During the software setup, perhaps a third through the process, an error appeared and the set-up process had to uninstall the software. I am running Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate. Plan B. I navigated to the Control Panel --> View Devices and Printers -->Add Printer --> Add Local Printer --> Create New a Port --> Standard TCP/IP Port --> Typed in the Printers IP Address (To get the Printer's IP, click on the Setup button on the printer --> Network --> View Network Settings --> Display Wireless Summary) Windows then asked for the driver for the printer. Click on Have Disk, browse to the DVD/CD drive and click O/k. Windows will then install the driver. When done, do a test page print.Back to the software. For some odd reason beyond my understanding, the software was now able to install successfully!!! Installation took about 15 minutes for me since I have a, Intel Centrino 2 T9600 2.80 GHz processor. It might be quicker if you have a faster processor. The software will prompt you to register and setup your EPrint account. If you choose to, navigate to and register. You will create an e-mail address for your printer (I know, sounds kind of odd). After creating the printer's e-mail account, you can choose which e-mail addresses can print to your printer. I logged into my G-Mail account, forwarded an e-mail to my printer's e-mail address, and within 20 seconds, the printer was printing!!! Too Cool!!! See the ePrint demonstration at .Scanning---------In order to scan, the HP software must to installed (I learned the hard way. I pressed the Start Scan button on the printer and got an error!!). Once the software is installed, the printer give you options on where you want to scan to. For example, you can scan to a USB Flash Drive, memory card, computer etc. I choose sending it to the computer. You can then select to scan it as a PDF, Word document, etc. I chose the PDF and within a minute, I was viewing the scanned file on my computer. The image was clear and crisp, and had no abnormalities. Then scanned a photo, the quality was crisp and clear just like the photo. Scan time about 1 minute per page.Scanning is a bit noisy.Photo Printing---------------So far, I only printed out two pictures. Pictures are crisp and smooth. Took about 1 minute to print a 4X6. Printing is a bit loud.Regular Printing/Faxing-----------------------Letters and numbers are sharp and not smudged or deformed. As for faxing, I have not attempted to try it yet. Printing is a bit loud.Recommendation---------------I would highly recommend this printer for a small office or home environment. If you do use wireless and not sure of your router settings, get someone who knows what they are doing to avoid hassle.

For a small business home office where one prints every day and at relatively high volume, this printer is doing the job nicely. I'll keep it. The cost equals the quality you get. Shipping was right on time, though box looked like a "used" box when it got to me.Photo printing quality: I give it a 4. I print photo postcards for my business, so don't need professional grade prints. For home prints, this printer gives good quality. Prints them moderately quickly. 4x6 photos are deep, rich, crisp and I have not experienced any paper jams with photo paper.Document printing quality: I wish it printed a little crisper. I almost feel there's a tiny "bleed" around each letter. Prints quickly. I did experience a paper jam while printing shipping labels. No explanation for the jam, but was relatively easy to clear. Hard part was putting the back door on again. If it's not on correctly, the printer won't print correctly.Ink usage: I print a lot, and the set-up inks that came with it lasted about 100 4x6 black and white photos, and 100 document sheets with a small bit of color. I had to replace all three color cartridges, and the black ink cartridge. I got XL cartridge for the black ink, and regular size for the color inks because I want to see how long they last, I will amend this review at that time. When getting ready to print, or doing maintenance there is the loud grinding and clicking others have experienced, but I have not experienced the intense shaking during printing that others claim.I have it set up on a network that includes a Windows 7 laptop, Windows XP laptop, and a Windows 7 netbook. Have had no issues with losing the network. It took about 45 minutes to set up, which seems ridiculously long. I'm used to a 5 minute set up with the previous HP Photosmart printer model this model replaced.

printer is fast and the ability to print from my iphone or any computer is very handy. Problem I had with this is when it went offline for no reason and call tech support to get it back online. Tech support worked out good, fast.
