I use this CD player for teaching CD lessons. Able to replay things as needed. Volume is pretty good. Seems well made. Easy to use. Works well for my needs.

The Hamilton Buhl did a respectable job for about two years, then started faltering until it stopped to work completely. I had hoped the company, fairly large it appeared on line, would stand behind the product to some degree: offer to repair, exchange at a fair price, or ? The response via phone and letter proved otherwise. After warranty, you were on your own! Fair or not, I had expected at least a response to my letter.Being ignored does not lead to positive reviews!Just now Hamilton Buhl sent a replacement! It took some work to get here. Now hope this one works better andlonger. Ours is used exclusively to listen to books; no classroom, etc. One can hope!

I was hesitant to order this CD player after reading about so many people having it suddenly stop working. But I decided to bite the bullet and order it because there are currently few, if any, alternative choices for a small portable CD player with a built-in speaker (other than boombox-style). Maybe I was lucky, but mine works fine so far after 1 year. If it does stop working I will update. The color is a metallic light blue as shown in the product pics. Mine has the logo 'Audio Champ' printed to the right of the speaker. Love that you can see the CD spinning through the window...just fun to look at. By pressing and holding > you can rewind or fast forward (scan) within a song but the sound is muted when doing so.The blue backlit display is bright and harsh - almost any color other than blue would've been better. The only quality control problem I've found on mine is 3 small shreds of black plastic permanently stuck inside the LCD display (see my pic). An annoyance I will live with - it doesn't affect the function of the display. The display shows the track number for the first few seconds of the song, then automatically reverts to showing the elapsed time in minutes and seconds. There doesn't seem to be any way to display the song number again after the song is playing. The volume level is indicated on the LCD display by little horizontal tick marks...a useful feature.I haven't yet tried it on battery power, so I can't comment on battery life. An AC adapter is included. At the front is a black plastic pull-out carrying handle. The buttons and audio jacks are on the right side. Having all the buttons more accessible on the top would've been better. There is no radio tuner. This is a basic but decent CD player marketed especially for classrooms and presentations. Its simplicity makes it good for kids as well as older people. The 1/8 and 1/4" dual headphone jacks allow playing it through a stereo system if you want better sound quality than the single internal speaker provides.

I am sad to give this player a poor review. I had high hopes and was looking for something durable to use in my young daughter's room and occasionally on trips- i really expected a "student" cd player to be durable, and opted for this model over some cheaper ones hoping for some quality over time. Like many other reviewers, the player worked correctly for the first few weeks, but now will not work with the plug-in feature. I tried ordering an additional ac adaptor, but the problem is in the connection to the player, not the outlet. We are able to run it on batteries, but the batteries only last a few days to a week before needing replaced, and cds are beginning to skip on it now. What a disappointment! I think i ordered this about 3 months ago, and it is virtually useless to us now.

This is a very nice & useful little machine. It plays my computer-recorded CDs nicely, and also plays MP3s I took from iTunes on my computer & put on a USB stick. It counts the time and indicates the track on the simple rectangular screen. The volume is adequate. I wanted it so I could play my favorite old downloaded radio episodes while I work at my PT job, and it works fine for my purpose. I use the included adapter (haven't tried batteries yet, and haven't used the headphone set). For me it's well worth the price. [The only thing that would make it better would be a custom carry case for it--I found a 120-CD zip case at Walmart and removed the CD holder inside, and this is a perfect ft for it (only lacks carry handles).] I like this product very much!

I was looking for a portable player that would allow me to play CD's and MP3 files from a USB drive. This device allows me to do this without having to buy an Ipod or similar device and extra equipment to support it, or purchase a small computer for the purpose, or piece together an expensive sound system.I use the device to primarily listen to recorded class lectures and speeches. The reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because the devices controls do not allow me to move incrementally backward or forward through a selection so that I can listen again to a portion of the selection I'm listening to. If I need to listen to a portion of the selection again I need to start at the beginning and listen to the whole selection up to the point I'm interested in again.

I have had a good number of portable cd players . They all were cheaply built and stopped working in a short time period . This player has a simplicity and good design to it . It is designed well to be easy to operate without the standard hard to figure out how to use it experience I have had in the past . A great feature is that is has provision ( a usb port )for plugging in a memory stick that has music / lectures on it . I have been looking for something that would play media other than a cd . I would strongly urge those looking for a well designed machine to look at and purchase this one.
