The lens has a bit of diffusion and the round shape provide a nice even distribution of light. I rarely use a speed light without a modifier because you get hot spots on the skin and hard shadows. You’ll still get hard shadows but nicer skin tones. I’m still able to use the MagMod system with no problems.
