Clarity in the Sound with the Acrylic Platter

The high density and greater mass of the acrylic provide increased inertia to achieve a consistent speed, while damping unwanted vibrations by trapping and dissipating the energy. Acrylic has an analogous resonant frequency to vinyl records to aid in the cancellation of undesirable reverberations resulting in a 3-dimensional soundstage with improved bass definition, a richer midrange, and greater signal clarity.

Precision Playback with Motor Isolation and Speed Control

The servo-controlled belt drive motor with speed regulating optical sensor, continuously measures and adjusts variances in linear velocity and acceleration within a few hundredths of a percent for a wow and flutter of 0.07%. The decoupling of the drive from the plinth suppresses motor vibrations and noise from reaching the stylus. This maintains accurate speed and significantly reduces rumble so your records sound perfect.

Wood Plinth for Superior Resistance to Vibrations

The mass-loaded multi-layered MDF wood chassis inhibits the transfer of unwanted resonance through the system. The 3 rubber, spike-type adjustable isolation feet minimize surface contact under the turntable resulting in immunity to environmental vibrations, for greater low frequency signal pickup and improved imaging.

After a lot of slight tweaks here and there I finally managed to set it up correctly in tandem with the tube pre amp I bought to play it through and oh my word it's absolutely brilliant.

this was a great first table. performed well. the cartridge choice was solid. glad I went this route vs the orto.only complaint was not having adjustable VTA but I knew that going into it. overall the best table in the $500 pricepoint that I found after hours of research...

This unit is a fantastic and I would happily pay twice what it cost for the sound quality it delivers. If you are in the market for an entry-level turntable that delivers quality sound, this is a great option to choose. I was contemplating a Rega or a Pro-ject unit and hadn’t even considered the Fluanxe line at all. After a recommendation and reading many reviews I decided to pull the trigger and I could not be happier. I paired it with a Wilsenton R8 and a pair of vintage Energy 22’s and the experience is magic to my ears. Highly recommend the brand; bonus points because they are Canadian!

I bought this to replace an Altec Lansing turntable which was fully auto with BT, i had replaced the original stylus for an elliptical on that unit and it sounded very nice but i was looking for more. Enter the Fluance rt85n, I wasn’t looking to be hammered with a sterile soundscape and the word warm drew me to this unit. I’ve burned it in for 20 or so hours and am very very pleased with this unit.I have a nice collection of records and it is handling all of them with ease. I am hearing much more detail in the music, instead of harmonies being blended together it is easy to hear the individual performers in their own space rather than a blend of voices in one spot. While warm is an apt description for the sound, that word does not do it justice, it has solid defined bass balanced well against a beautiful midrange and high end. I am reliving my first exposure to high end audio and am loving the old school vinyl experience, my setup does have Bluetooth to stream music from my phone, but the sound of well cared for vinyl is a much more engaging experience, I have to get off my ass and flip the LP. I have been adding a lot of pre-owned music to my collection and am surprised by how well this unit handles all of the $1.00 albums that have found their way into my collection. I have found that giving even a brand new album will deal with dirty grooves. A tiny spec of dust in the groove will cause a loud pop in the performance but a good deep clean have removed all those annoying pops, I’ve read of others having a similar issue and replacing the stylus with the next model up to deal with it, but cleaning is working for me. I had bought a copy of Yes - Close to the Edge which had several pops on both sides and after a good deep clean they all went bye bye. I highly recommend this unit it brings a lot to the party and was super easy to install and set up, as you can see in the pics my EQ setting are nearly flat and I am getting bottom end that can be felt without the boomies. My friends are commenting about how good my setup sounds and these are folks who have never used at turntable before.

I waited some before writing a review, letting the initial honeymoon period pass, that time when you tend to be most hyperbolic and least objective.I love this turntable. From the visual - striking, beautiful, it stands out in my room - to (kinda important also) its audio qualities, I’m vey happy with my choice. I spent a lot of time researching and selecting a turntable.Matched with my Denon amp and KEF speakers, the audio quality is - at my level of audiophility (yes, I made up that word :-) - amazing. I’ve only recently come back to vinyl and am appreciating it for many reasons. The turntable was a key element. The combination of features is perfect, including the auto-stop. I couldn’t face a turntable that’s fully manual, but understand the stated difficulties in designing a fully automatic turntable at this quality level. Auto stop has been a great compromise.Well done, Fluance.

I haven’t found a thing I don’t lie about this unit. I could gush on and on. Really go full on fanboy about the rt85n. It’s a budget offering that sounds better than any other audiophile entry table I’ve owned. It’s quiet, the sound quality is stunning for the price, it’s easy on the eyes. It’s easy to put together and if you’re new to vinyl, the directions are specific and easy to follow for set up. No issues at all since I received it. I frankly do most of my listening at night with headphones and I’m not getting any motor noise or audible wow&flutter. Just music. And the sound quality and stage is very nice. I’ve used both the onboard stage on my emotiva PT-100 and the venerable little Schiit mani. Amplified and through speakers the sound stage and detail is awe inspiring whether over elac debut b6’s or klipsch rp600m’s. The included Nagaoka cart (the primary reason I chose this model) is clear and detailed and frankly reminds me of HiFi units of days gone by. There’s a sense of being there amplified through speakers especially with live recordings. I couldn’t be happier, especially at this price point.

I decided my old Dual turntable had had it after multiple repairs and attention over the last nearly 40 years. Time for a replacement; something good but not stupid money - I like vinyl and have many lps, but not to the anal level. After some research and a bit of listening I went with the Fluance RT85N. Very simple setup and straight in with something loud, and what a difference/improvement. Next was something quiet and the clarity was amazing. I hesitate to say, but I was like a kid grabbing old records. So far this turntable has just exceeded its stated 20hr break in period so long may this continue.Thoroughly recommended if you want a really great sound but don't want to get into the diminishing returns territory.

I don't know what the standard platter would sound like, but this acrylic looks great and the Nagaoka cartridge is excellent. I almost went with the other version with the Ortofon Blue but chose this because I read on multiple forums:1. The blue ortofon can sound overly crisp, detailed and might "fatigue" the ears.2. The ortofon blue stylus (needle) can cost twice as much $204 at replacement time as the Nagaoka $70 and I plan to replace the stylus every 300 hours or two years. I don't plan on changing the entire cartridge, but will upgrade my speakers and even get a pre-amp maybe... before I then upgrade to a fancier cartridge.3. The Nagaota gets so much praise for its warmer sound and decent bass.4. BUT this all depends on your "vinyl-chain": the amp or receiver you use and the speaker quality so its all subject to these and subjective too.I get no wow and flutter (I have good ears and would hear it) and I don't get any sibilance from the needle. My old vinyl that has been in the back room for 25 years now sounds amazing in my new "vinyl room" (the old sun-room).It was fun watching youtube vids on what to expect to set up the tone arm and antiskate, easy. The 3 rubber feet work fine, I have no issues with the unit just turning off when record side is finished. At least it does not spin and get kicked out to respin again. It's fine for the needle to gently stay there if I walk away and return.I don't have any 45's and certainly no 78's so having 33 and 45 speeds are fine. I don't need a system or cartridge and needle that will play exotic mono and 78's when I have 50 years worth of 33 1/3 to play. The lift arm (I believe it's hydraulic) works perfectly: it lifts all the way and slowly comes down as expected. The tone arm is fine, but where the arm lock or holder clips over the arm, it is tight and the black has rubbed off very slightly. I might use a sharpie to dab it someday if it gets noticeable. I would not say (as others have) that this means it's a "lower quality tonearm", I feel it's fine and the tone arm gears and general feel is fine. If I really wanted a carbon-straight arm, I would have spent another $150 for those other brands but I was really pushing this at $500, so I'm really happy.
