Let's talk about what this is first: this is something you use to hunt/fish. There's an inherent danger in handling one of these even if you're just using ball bearings. With that being said, OMG THIS IS SO MUCH FUN! Even just practicing with it is fun, there's a raw instinct here at play, and this thing is stringing it with every pull. Comes with plenty of rubber bands to last you for a long time, and the projectiles are decently sharp, but consider you wont be landing any long-range catches with this thing unless you're very, very skilled. While the projectile is sharp, it'll do what it's meant to do probably within a range of 10 or so feet, so you're talking lake fishing or rock fishing at best. The reel can be switched to whichever hand you prefer, but like I said considering how this is configured you probably want to keep your target within 10 feet or so, or you'll be spending half your day spooling this thing. Thankfully this thing comes with two guards, but it does NOT come with safety glasses but if you're looking at purchasing this thing odds are that you already own at least a pair of construction or other safety glasses (hint: if you don't, buy the polarized kind that let you see through the surface of the water). Anyway, long story short, if you give this as a gift, make sure the recipient is responsible. If you're getting this for yourself, keep it in the box until the morning of a free weekend and you're bound to have a ton of fun as long as you remembered to pack those safety glasses. A long sleeve might also be in order here if you're relatively new to using one of these. Test it out and you'll see that the sweet spot is not all the way back where the projectile becomes a random object, but right behind the reel wrist guard where it's going fast enough to do it's job and follow its intended trajectory. Happy fishing!
