This is a somewhat heavy case, which closes securely with a magnetic flap. It looks like it will provide good protection in a suitcase or backpack. Understated and solid. You can fold the front cover back behind the device for easy, Kindle-like reading.The included stand-alone keyboard is feather-light, with tactile keys, well made and well finished. It's necessarily a little cramped, but totally usable once you get used to it. All the keys are where they should be.When stowed, the keyboard is magnetically secured to the inner cover of the case. It rests above the device screen on the rim of the case when the cover is closed. It stays solidly in place, and does not come into contact with the screen of the device. Since the keyboard is a separate component rather than being permanently attached to the case, you have a lot of flexibility in positioning it for use.The case and the keyboard have performed well so far. My only concern might be the durability of the "hinge" areas of the case in the face of repeated opening and closing, simply because this area is often a weak point. Based on my experience with this case, I'm happy and I'd definitely buy it again. Four stars for now. If it continues to perform well, it's a five.

I guess its an alright little device. But my goodness it is HEAVY! And I’m guessing that’s from all the magnets in it.I keep missing the backspace button because its a row lower than most keyboards. Be sure to check out the keyboard layout zoomed-in first to ensure its something you’d be comfortable using. To be fair, the layout of a tiny keyboard such as this leaves much to be desired, yet must be an interesting design challenge to solve for. I’m sure with practice (and auto suggest) it can be adapted to alright.The way the keys light up is cute. I got the marbled lavender version. Was happy that I could change the key colors to a soft fuchsia, with 3 levels of brightness.Apple Pencil is a tight squeeze but fits in alright. Taking it out is a bit of a challenge, which is a con for me because I use my iPad Mini for a LOT of art work and quick design comps.By the way, I’m writing this review on the keyboard (but typed in the quotes in the title using the on-screen keyboard, lol).I exclusively space bar with my right thumb, so the /? Button is dangerously close to being hit constantly, but somehow has not been problematic.I’m a lady with I guess medium-sized skinny hands?Seriously, I cannot believe how heavy it is. I didn’t have a case on my iPad up to this point and always carried it in a folio intended for pens and notebooks. With my new bag setup I was hoping to have a slim, lightweight solution for being able to type on my iPad, as I don’t enjoy the onscreen keyboard — yet now I think the size and placement of the onscreen keys are better suited than this keyboard (albeit the onscreen keyboard has the magic of swipeable characters). Folded up, it is on the clunky side, and I’d rather dedicate that amount of space to a paper journal.I am hoping to get through a conference with this this week, though I may return it and not replace it, or if I find comfortable typing is beneficial to my setup, may trade up for a different option that’s lighter and has a better/more useful keyboard layout to me.

I have never mastered the use of the thumbs to type on my phone, so I do my Duolingo homework on my mini iPad. I have found it very taxing trying to type on the tiny keyboard when the tablet is in the “portrait” mode, but the way the app is set up, typing in landscape mode is obscured on some pages by the graphics. Typing with this keyboard makes it possible to do almost all the lessons more easily (sometimes answer box is still obscured). Finding the accents and the ñ is very simple. I used it for the first time today and am very pleased, with one major exception. The markings on the keys for quotation marks, asterisk, brackets, plus sign, at sign, etc. are all wrong! Then I figured it out.Adjusting the keyboard setting changes the characters. When using the English keyboard, characters are as marked on the keys. When using the Spanish keyboard, the character keys no longer match, but now also allow for the ñ and the upside down question and exclamation marks. I don’t know yet if that is true of keyboards for other languages, but I imagine that it would be.The case is well-designed. It does a good job of protecting the mini iPad and, even without the keyboard, will stand independently in landscapemode. The keyboard itself feels great and is nicely responsive. Very impressed with it.One tiny gripe, the markings on the backspace and enter keys are very similar and it took me a bit to adjust.

There’s nothing wrong with the case or keyboard. It all fits together perfectly (not sure why other reviewers had an issue with that). It’s just TOOOOO heavy. It makes the device heavier than my laptop which defeats the purpose.
