They are good and definitely help if you are getting in and out of the water on reefs. However, the sea urchin spikes do penetrate through the bottom.

These booties are great. I use them for Stand Up Paddle surf and shortboard surfing. Good feel on the board underfoot and protects from reef cuts. I'm able to confidently walk out on the reef or rocks to enter the surf. This item is not anti-slip. It does not grab on to slippery surfaces, so you still need to be a little careful when walking on slippery wet rocks, but does protect against cuts from barnacles, tube worms and sharp reefs.
