Eye-Fi Connected

Eye-Fi cards are compatible with thousands of cameras, very likely including the one you already own. But, a variety of popular models from Canon, Nikon, Sony, and other well-known brands have integrated additional Eye-Fi technology to improve your overall experience.

Cameras with the Eye-Fi Connected logo signify an improved user experience and, in some cases, advanced features. Eye-Fi connected cameras can detect when an Eye-Fi card is being used and most of these cameras will stay powered on until the photo and video uploads are complete, have an on-screen icon signaling transfer activity and provide the ability to enable or disable Eye-Fi card WiFi via the camera menu. Some camera models will even identify which photos & videos have already been uploaded with an on-screen icon.

THE EYE-FI PRO-16 X-2 looks no different from any other SD card but it does perform a function that is both time saving and convenient. The ability to take what you shoot and a) save it on the card and/ -or- b) transmit it within seconds to your computer for editing.I am leading a project team in event shooting (weddings, sports, tourneys, meetings) professionally and the Eye -Fi plays an important role with the ability for the 1st or 2nd helper to correct and print on the fly. In addition, I am also using it for product photography of food, small parts, electrical components, and comp boards so I don't have to connect wires or cables each time. I shoot it's there in Adobe Bridge or Lightroom and off to Photoshop, I correct, it's uploaded...sweet, next shot.UPDATE: Wi-FI testing and evaluation continues, not quite completed as yet but so far the results are very acceptable, no loses and we tried things under really bad conditions of lighting and no losses.Installation requires patience. I missed a step, had a problem aligning network, my fault, and they were quickly resolved from a fast competent support team at EYE-FI. Very fast support. Working flawless now.I found the card on the AMAZON website and opted for the no frustration packaging. Thats what you get, one envelope, one card, one reader in a bubble wrap. OK I saved the environment today. In the old days we called this bulk packaging. The card is performing now so we will see what it can do in a working environment. Our purpose is to compare hard tethering with cable versus Wi-Fi in a fixed green environment. To allow culling and cropping on the fly during shoot while active headshot participants (if reshoot is needed) and products (food shoots) are handy. CONS: I should have opted for the 32 GB and it was an after thought we would rather be testing the 32GB as backups are critical in an ongoing event.

My husband purchased an iPad 4 for me for Christmas because he had read online about shooting from camera to iPad to view and edit photos. At the Apple store, the man sold him a $30 camera adapter so I could transfer the files. Once I got to my studio after the holiday I connected my camera to the iPad but was disappointed to see that it did not transfer photos as I took them, instead it acted as a USB reader and transferred files that were already on the memory card. This was a complete waste and not at all what I needed. So, I did some research and found out about the Eye-Fi card, and of course checked out all of the reviews for it. I purchased it, and received it yesterday. When I got into the studio today, I set it up, and although it took me a little while to figure out all of the settings so that it worked for exactly what I wanted (less than an hour) I have it up and running and it works amazingly! I do a few events throughout the year where clients can choose their photos on the spot, and it isn't reasonable to move my whole computer set up to my shooting area to shoot tethered to my PC, and it obviously doesn't make any sense to try to travel with it. Well this is a perfect solution. I have the Canon 1DS Mark III. I use a regular CF card to record all of my RAW files for transfer and editing on my PC once I'm back at my studio and use the Eye-Fi SD card to transfer small jpeg files directly to my iPad. The photos on my iPad are strictly for people to see their photos, and I won't be editing or saving these files, so I use the S jpeg so it transfers extremely quickly. In less than 3 seconds, files are ready to view. This helps to boost sales a lot, because a lot of people will order less at events if they are unsure how their photos turn out. It does take a little set up work on both the iPad and camera to get this all to work out this way, but like I said it doesn't take long. One drawback I did see was that it seems as if my iPad looses the connection to the card, and then you have to go back into settings and wifi to reconnect. That is a little inconvenient, but I set it to automatically connect, and I am hoping this fixes the problem. One piece of advice though, if you plan on using this app with your camera and you may not take a photo for a few minutes, you may want to turn your sleep settings off on your camera. I did notice that the wifi disconnected after the camera went to sleep and it took a minute to reconnect. All in all, it is an awesome product to shoot "tethered" with, and of course the fact that everything is wireless makes it so much easier! I definitely recommend the Eye-Fi!
