This is not a direct replacement for a Beval pad. It's about 1/4 inch thicker and considerably stiffer than the no-longer-available classic Beval. It arrives being close to an inch thick, meaning it will take up a lot of space under the withers, perhaps making the gullet too tight, especially as the horse bends, even as it significantly raises back of the saddle. A break-in period might be needed. The wool around the front edge and surrounding the clearance hole actually makes the pad thicker there where a little less material might be preferable. If you have a saddle with a wide tree or pro pads, this might be a solution when significant extra padding is needed.

The brand listed here is for a $42 half pad available online at d w equis. Not a Beval diamond wool half pad. Poor quality, save your money.

The pad is thick nd doesn't slide around. It's big and fit my 17.5 inch english nicely. Also left no sweat marks after a lunge or ride. Wither relief was great. My large welsh pony appreciates this purchase. shipped quick and arrived sooner than expected.
