I prefer programming larger alarm systems on the computer rather than navigating the tiny screen menu on the keypad so this was super useful for the short time I needed it. Unfortunatly they hired someone else who supposedly could do my job better and cheaper and I was fired shortly after. Probably wont ever need it again so Ill probably resell mine to a local in the area. Just a heads up you will need an older computer with a serial port to use this or a serial to usb adaptor and those can be hit or miss on quality. I personally use an older toshiba laptop that we kept around solely for the older alarm systems so a newer company or one that changes equiptment often may not be able to use this particular model without a serial to usb adaptor.

Alarm part to connect my alarm to the computer, it helps for me to see and setting up my programs in the alarm system.

Finding the software for the DIY'er is the issue... but if you can find an installer who will give you a copy, great. Cable works perfectly for programming DSC alarms. If you only have a USB port on your computer you'll want to get a USB to RS232 male adapter as well.

Did not work. Unable to test till after return window. Had to program thru keypad. Waste of money. I downloaded correct software and have programmed dsc panels before.

Does what is says it can do - program the DSC security system. The only problem I had was the cable was a bit short and I had to move my computer (not a big deal - more my problem than theirs).

This item was rather cheaply made but it does work and makes programming the DSC alarm panels a lot easier. The header plug that attaches to the alarm panel also has a telephone cord jack on the small printed circuit board. This makes the plug rather heavy and puts a lot of weight on the panel circuit board. I would recommend clipping the telephone cord coming from the header plug to the side of the alarm panel case to support it rather than letting it hang free. The connector cable is over priced for what it is but when combined with the DSC Link Software (DLS) makes programming the alarm panel much easier.

Having read other reviews of this product elsewhere I expected to get a short cord but the one I received was six feet making this product very usable. It takes seconds to install and makes programming the DSC alarm easier for beginners. This also is a good product for those who have key pads minus the LCD display.It comes with the items pictured plus a very short manual.
