Judging by how long the battery took to charge, I think this is the long life Canon original. I will follow up. the aftermarket batteries available at Amazon have disappointed me several times as they just don't last and never seem to have the life of the original Canon. It costs several times the cost of the aftermarket batteries, but when you are on an overseas vacation, you want flawless performance not battery failue. The costs of a good battery are small compared to the cost of the trip.

I've cheaped out in the past and gotten the knock-off brand batteries for my Canon M50 and M50 MKII cameras. I noticed that those knock-offs drain faster and so far I've had two of them swell over time.I noticed that my original Canon batteries that came with the cameras were still great and lasted longer so I decided to buy Canon brand battery this time. So much better! Yes, the Canon battery costs more but I honestly feel like it's a better battery.Now, it's not like it's gonna run all day....well, I take that back. I've been using it to shoot video, so it doesn't go all day doing that. STILL lasts longer than the knock-offs. If you're shooting photos only, it will last longer on a charge than if you're shooting video only.Bottom line: get the Canon brand. It gives you more run time on a charge and so far I have not experienced any battery swelling on the 3 Canon batteries. With the off-brand batteries I've had 4 batteries and 2 have swollen.

I tried the generic version of these batteries, and they worked fine... for about 6 months, when they stopped taking a charge. Canon only from now on. The battery that came with the camera is still working like new even after 2 years and many charges, and I expect this backup battery will perform just as well. They're more expensive, but worth it.

This battery lasts me long just like the original baterry that came with my camera when I first bought it. It could last the whole day for continuous photos with about an hour of continuous video recording.

I have learnt to buy the original because they last longer, hold charge longer and give me peace of mind for the care of my investment in my camera. Past experience with generics was it would not hold charge as long , shorter life of battery and more difficult to insert and release battery. This can cause damage to your camera along with the fact that generics had a tendency to swell in size also.

Even tho the battery looked used bc it was just wrapped in bubble wrap, no Canon box, nothing...it seems to work well! Maybe I missed that shipping was not prime or in original packaging. Just giving an honest review from, well, my POV! ✌🏼💜🦋💜✌🏼
