The bone parts are excellent - very well-cut, smooth, polished, and yes: real bone. I did the bright light test and saw the characteristic swirls, whirls, and specks one expects from real bone, and did not see a maker's mark, injection lines or flash, or anything to make me think this wasn't the real deal. I did not do the hot soldering iron test, but only because I'm reasonably convinced of the authenticity of the parts.Speaking of parts - the bridge pins are pretty disappointing. When I ordered these, I didn't even really know they were *supposed* to be skulls. It was only after the fact that I saw they were, and it was only when I received them that I saw how poor the detail was. They're...more vaguely skull-like than anything. I don't plan to use these, to be quite frank.Still, I'd suggest it's worth the price just for the bone parts you get in this package.

I used this to replace a worn out old nut that was causing buzzing. I never would have considered doing my own luthier work if I hadn't come across this offer. Replacing the nut was easier than I expected after watching a video. I also replaced the saddle just so they would match. The bone components fit perfectly and seem well made. My only complaint about this product is the skull pins are too weird looking to be useable. Specifically, the mandible part is pointy like an alien. An alien design might be cool, but this hybrid looking thing is not. I was initially looking forward to installing them to add a punk/metal vibe to my acoustic. But unfortunately they are just too ugly. The photos in the item description are kind of hard to see so I included my own pictures. I would have preferred a set like this for only 1 guitar (rather than 6) but with decent looking pins. Now I have a lifetime supply of nuts and saddles, though. I would recommend this for the bone components only.
