DO NOT BUY!!! This product worked as it was supposed to for about a month. Then it just started switching between inputs at random while using one input. Rendering this product useless.

This HDMI switch is connected to a Vizio 5.1 soundbar. The soundbar is connected to an old Samsung TV with maximum display of 1080p 60hz. The ARC HDMI port on the TV is only 2.1 and not 5.1 surround sound, which is why I bought this HDMI switch.I was using this mainly with a 2017 Nvidia Shield TV. Everyone once in a while I would use it with a Nintendo Switch or PS5. Very rarely used it with Xbox 360 or the gaming laptop.I purchased this in July 2023. About 8 months later, the Shield TV could only output 720p and none of the Amazon Prime contect would play due to HDMI error. After much trouble shooting, it turns out that the HDMI switch the Shield TV was connected to is broken. All the other inputs seem to work fine.For some reason the remote controller on the soundbar's volume down button also changes the HDMI switch input. Also the HDMI switch's remote could control the soundbar's volume down.I ended up hiding the HDMI switch so the remotes IR blasters don't reach it.Auto swich to the next HDMI input works sometimes, but not all the time. I have to frequently press the "switch" button to change the input when it doesn't auto switch.EDIT: The seller offered me a refund. I am changing the 3 stars to 5 stars for their great customer service. I forgot to mention in my original review that I eventually swapped the Shield TV input with the Nintendo Switch input and that's how I realized that one of the HDMI inputs didn't work. The Shield TV worked fine and the Nintendo Switch could not output a signal to the TV, even at 720p. I then tried to use my laptop with that input and it could do 1080p at 60hz, but there was no audio. The laptop video and audio work fine when using a different input.

Auto detect works flawlessly for me, I haven't had to touch it once and it just works for casual use. Great for productivity, it stays on your selection even with multiple powered sources. Remote is redundant. Works fine without power supply on a 1080 setup. 5th port on the front is very handy. I used 3M double tape to mount it.It's heafty, has a metal enclosure and seems solid. Kinda reminds me of a no frills stereo component from the 80s.Smart enough to switch to a new source while the old source is still running, and will switch back to the old source if you turn off the new source. It goes to sleep if all sources are off. Have left all 5 sources on and it seems to stay on your selected source without jumping around, great for working on one system while researching with another.Even a Gamecube Pluto HDMI modkit and the nature of those games at the time, which will change resolutions mid game for reasons like switching from the game view to a menu or a movie, don't seem to trip it up. Though, there is a slight delay added to the stack, it seems to send the appropriate information to the screen to switch without a hiccup. This slight delay falls within the The Pluto II and Swiss pause buffer feature. Hyper specific circumstances. But it works just dandy.Judging by some comments and my own experience, the quality control sucks. But the second one I got works great and it far exceeds my expectations in a $35 hdmi auto switch. 10/10, great purchase.

Used this as hub for all my devices. Been using for a while now and no problems. It is true 2160p and I use with a PS5 and Xbox series x with no noticeable lag. Auto switch is nice as well, and it changes input when it senses signal. Does require the use of an outlet for its own power though. Overall, incredibly convenient when setup and is a heaven sent if you only have 2 HDMI ports and more than 2 devices.
