Product Description
Created in the tradition of Matryoshka folk art dolls from Russia, which originated at the end of the nineteenth century, our doll designs feature contemporary themes such as animal and pet groupings, sea life, painted ladies, and more.
Nesting dolls are made of wood, which is seasoned and dried. The wood is then turned in a lathe. Turning the doll shapes on a lathe and sizing them to fit into each other takes skill and years of woodworking experience. No precise measurements are made during the manufacture of a set of dolls. The woodworker has the intuition to know the specific sizes required.
The doll shapes then proceed to the painting area. Detailed decals are applied to some of the dolls when it is impossible to achieve intricate details by hand painting. Each doll in a set is then painted by hand with non-toxic acrylic paints. Finally a lacquer finish is applied to preserve and protect the dolls. Each nesting doll is unique because they are intricately hand painted as opposed to being mass-produced by machines.

We gave this to my husband for Father's Day, since his "spirit animal" is a monkey :) He loved it! The nesting dolls are larger than I expected, but they are painted correctly - no weird mistakes or anything. The wood is smooth and all of the pieces fit. The cutest part is the bunch of bananas at the center! This makes a really great gift for those who love apes, orangutans, monkeys of all kinds. Great on a desk or mantle for display, and fun to take apart put together when you're bored or thinking something over.

This item has a lot of charcter and is super cute. That being said there were a few issues with it...1) one of the monkeys came with a big chip on his head 2) there are some discoloration spots and 3) not all the peices line up with eachother meaning sometimes an arm just "cuts off". That being said, it is enjoyed by all in the house and I would suggest it assuming there isn't a chip in yours.

Sturdy enough, gift for a toddler. He loves it !!! May need to spin pieces for a better fit as they are a bit tight. If a gift be sure to open and check, took a little bit to get some pieces apart. Ordered 4 different sets, only one of a nester slides apart easier than I'd like. Tight will become satisfactory after repetitive use. Male edges of bottom sections might be a little thin, if more of a toy as these will be, chipping this edge is probable

So cute. Gave to a monkey loving friend. He loved them! Only problem is they’re very tight and I needed to use dental floss to open them. Was worried about breaking them while attempting to open so I took off one star. The designs are detailed and funny. Worth the effort once opened. Arrived fast and I recommend for any monkey lover!

This nesting set is adorable. The last one is a banana and just makes you laugh everytime you open the set. These were just as I expected them to be. Beautifully painted and high quality . Some of the wood pieces were tight and hard to separate, but that is common with wooden nesting sets. I would highly recommend. I'll be giving these to my children for Christmas.
