I got these plastic biscuits in case I wanted to make a joint without glue. I cut a #20 slot in each of 2 pieces of pine with a Porter Cable biscuit cutter. I had to use a mallet to get the two pieces of pine together with one plastic biscuit in the slot. I didn't use any glue. I couldn't pull the joint apart with my hands, though I did manage to get it apart with one piece in my vice while pulling on the other with my hands.I'm not sure if I would use them in a good piece of furniture without glue. With glue on the board edges, I think these would be as strong as wooden biscuits.I do think the plastic ones are better than wood biscuits for aligning two boards because sometimes the wooden ones are a bit loose before they swell with the moisture of the glue. These are very tight immediately as you close the joint so they will align parts very well as you join them.

These work really well for biscuits. I use these when gluing up panels and typically use wood biscuits.I used my trusty Harbor Freight biscuit cutter and glued up some random scrap I had laying around. These worked perfectly fine and seem more consistent than the wooden biscuits I've used in the past. The price is about the same as I would expect to pay retail but I'll take the convenience of having them delivered to my door any day. Plus, if I'm not visiting a wood store, there's no chance I'll pick up other things I don't need.
