Good color and great for displaying swords without taking up a lot of room.

It's a fine rack for the price. Its not polished. It's sprayed flat black 1 thin coat. There was 1 cosmetic repair that was minor. I will repaint the rack to a black gloss or add clear coat of varnish. The finish cost 1 star .... Easy to assemble..I added sticker pads to protect my wall. Unknown wood type but it needs a proper finish prior to assembly.. it's a tad small as my swords are banging together. I have US sabers that are curved. Japanese Katanas will fit fine as well as US Navy Officer type.

Unlike so many items being described as being made of wood, this one really is. The wood really is actual wood from a tree. There are four pieces to screw together with screws that screw into actual metal threaded inserts! Now, those inserts aren't aligned perfectly, but close enough that all screws can be started and then tightened without any effort greater than a little wiggling! The finish on the wood isn't great, but if you're going to be picky you can fix that easily enough. Then again, if you're going to be that picky about the finish you should already be prepared to either refinish it or spend at least double (probably much more) on a higher tier item. Also, consider your mounting. They're meant to be hung from two screws spaced 6" apart using provided metal brackets, but you can also stand it on a floor or sturdy base and use one of the hanging brackets as an anchor to keep it upright or do something completely different. The biggest problem with this unit:When holding a katana with a thicker saya, the shape of the 'hook' cutout forces the sword to lean out away from the wall unless the sword is placed backwards (ura facing out, omote in) with the tsuka on the right, which backwards.

Product was scuffed up and scratched and is significantly smaller than what they are advertising. Very overpriced for how small it is.

To start with, remove the hangers held by the screws in the back on both sides. Then drill a small hole center above the emblem, and one on each side of the top cross-board. Then get 2" "black Phillips flat-head screws set it and hang whatever, because it will hold whatever. Nice!

One display worked fine, but unfortunately, on two others the per-drilled holes did not align. The company did rectify the problem.
