Blue Light Explained
Macular Degeneration Blue light (HEV) penetrates all the way to your retina and has been shown that too much exposure to blue light can damage light sensitive cells in the retina. This causes changes that are similar to those of macular degeneration, which can lead to permanent vision loss. Many eye care professionals have concerns that the blue light exposure from digital screens might increase a person's risk of macular degeneration later in life.
Digital Eye Fatigue Short wavelength, high energy blue light scatters more easily than other visible light and makes it not as easily focused. When you're looking at your digital screen that emit significant amounts of blue light, this unfocused visual light reduces contrast and can contribute to digital eye strain.
Sleep Disruption Blue light is very important in regulating circadian rhythm - your body's natural wakefulness and sleep cycle. Exposure to blue light during daytime hours helps maintain a healthful circadian rhythm. But too much blue light late at night can disrupt this cycle, causing sleepless nights and daytime fatigue. People who use their electronic devices before bed have a harder time falling and staying asleep.
Why Not Block All Blue Light?
It's well documented that some blue light exposure is essential for good health. Research has shown that high-energy visible light boosts alertness, helps memory and cognitive function and elevates mood.
In fact, something called light therapy is used to treat seasonal affective disorder (SAD) โ a type of depression that's related to changes in seasons, with symptoms usually beginning in the fall and continuing through winter. The light sources for this therapy emit bright white light that contains a significant amount of HEV blue light rays.

I wasn't sure if a blue light - ultraviolet computer screen filter would really work, but I believe in the technology and I think it truly is keeping my eyes from being strained so much by the computer. I already have enough eye problems to deal with.ย It did come with a blue light tester kit and the screen made the light disappear. I was very impressed with how securely the screen was packaged in a box. It looks and feels like thin plexiglass, to me. I bought the model that simply fits right over my screen. I knew it would hang an inch below the screen, and that is fine.

This screen filter has made attending virtual meetings much easier on my eyes. The fact that it is a solid sheet that hangs on the monitor is a big plus over those that must be adhered to the screen.One minus is the fact there is no gap into which you can place your camera.Would recommend somewhat, depending on the type of camera used and how it is mounted for use.

My screen is 19.5 x 8 inches, so I ordered the 19.5-inch screen protector. The product that arrived was 17 x 5 inches?? Huge inconvenience having to send it back and look for another, don't waste your time with this product. The only cool aspect is that it comes with a wipe to clean your screen.

Not only was the screen protector the wrong size, but looking at the reviews, I saw someone else had the same issue - that the screen protector is actually 16.75" X 11" and not the listed dimensions of 12.6"H X 15.39"W and the response was that screens are measured diagonally...very annoying response and experience all together

I purchased this filter based on the sizes stated on the web site. It stated screen size 12in H x 15.4in W with diagonal measurement of 19in . That is my screen monitor size. All the measurements were correct based on the description. The filter that came was 11 in H x 17 in W . This does me no good. Be prepared to return it because the measurements are not accurate on their side.
