Got this for travel in Sienna hybrid van. Pot is sturdy, stable and compact, and DOES NOT have the heating element exposed inside. Base sits on the center console and plugs into our car. It's so nice to have hot water without getting out of our vehicle!

I work at a country club and sometimes I will take a break. This is a perfect kettle for me at work. You turn it on and with 10 minutes. It gets hot. The best thing I like about this when it starts to boil it don’t shut off, but it won’t bubble over.

I am always on a mission creating organizational projects on a budget. As the sole tea drinker in the house, I wanted representation at the coffee station I created in the kitchen. As for the kettle portion of the project, I was disappointed that I couldn't find any affordable glass kettles under 1.2L with white handles. I literally bought 14 electric kettles of all shapes, sizes (.6L-1.7L) and prices (8.99-59.99) (thank you for your generous return policy Amazon!) Learning far more about kettles than I expected (or wanted), I found plenty of issues with most of them. THIS LITTLE GEM CHECKED ALL THE BOXES! PROS: The 1L size is perfect for a few cups of tea. It has the VITAL auto shut off and boil dry protection SAFETY FEATURES. The base sits nice and flat on the counter, so the kettle is easily removed and replaced without it being wobbly. I hadn't considered how much a black cord can affect the overall appearance of the unit! I have a light-colored kitchen, so the WHITE CORD blended perfectly. The white and grey is wonderfully NEUTRAL and DISCREET making it work with any kitchen color scheme. Water heats up quickly and stays hot surprisingly long after auto shut off. There's a WINDOW so you can monitor the water level as well! Finally, THE PRICE! It was one of the most affordable of all the kettles found from any online retailer. CONS: NONE! However, the manual (I use that term loosely) states not to leave plugged in when not in use. The whole point of the electric base is that you don't have to plug and unplug the kettle with each use. Total deal breaker for me. I confirmed with manufacturer that it DOES in fact have the same safety features as the other pricier electric kettles, and I found at least one similar line in some of the other kettles' manuals, so I am inclined to think it is a CYA clause. I did change the 3 ft extension cord to one with a surge protector / on off switch just in case because I'm OCD like that. I personally think this is a little too bulky for travel when there are certainly more compact options available for that use SHORT VERSION: DON'T THINK TWICE ABOUT PURCHASING the AIGOSTAR KETTLE!

This was my first electric kettle as I got into tea a few weeks ago. I just couldn't see paying $100 for a kettle to boil water, so this seemed like a better bargain. I think I'm ready for an upgrade though. This kettle has the perfect size and look. It looks good on the counter top or table top. And it does it's job -- it boils water. But that's all it does. The most important thing it lacks is some kind of "keep warm" feature, so the water gets colder after awhile. That wouldn't be a problem because the kettle works fast, except I'm told it's not good to re-boil water for tea. That also wouldn't be a problem if I drank my tea in the kitchen where I could just get fresh water. Basically, every time I want to refill my glass, I need to dump the water out and heat a new pot. That's not so bad, really, but as I'm learning more about tea, I also want to control the temperature of water (not all teas want to steep in 212 degree boiling water).I've also been hearing that it's not good to have a plastic tea kettle. I don't know. The description says it's okay, and I really like the little window to see the water boiling. Considering the aesthetic appeal of this little cutie, I think I'm okay with the plastic kettle as long as it's safe. And there's the rub. I'm not sure if it is. I followed the manufacturer's recommendation of cleaning it several times prior to use. There are strange participles floating in the water. I don't know what they are. At first I thought they were built-up scale due to the hard water in my area, but now they seem to clearly be parts of the bottom that are flaking off, like paint chips or something. It's making me nervous about using this kettle anymore. The tiny filter inside seems to be catching those particles and none is appearing in my tea glass, but it still makes me nervous. What if there are tiny particles I can't see that go through the filter? If tea can flavor my water and impact it's nutritional value just by floating inside it for awhile, can these particles do the same? What are they are and why are they peeling off from my unit?I think it's time for me to spend a little more money and get a name-brand steel or glass kettle with all the extra features.edit: I have no proof that this is related, but a recent alarming and embarassing health symptom seems to have improved when I stopped using this kettle. A proper test would involve using it again to see if the issue comes back, but I'm not willing to do that. I purchased a $100 kettle instead with all the extra features and stainless steel construction.edit: It looks like that stuff was just scale. I'm adding more stars to the review. I threw a vinegar solution in, boiled it, left it overnight, and rinsed it out. It looks as new. The bottom is supposed to be metal, not white. Clearly the problem is the water and not this item's construction. I am likely going to gift this kettle to someone or take it to work. I've noticed a similar build-up in the new kettle, too. I'm going to switch to only using bottled water for my tea to see if that helps. I'll keep a gallon sized bottle near my kettle.
