I really wanted to try using this instead of the other brand I had previously. It feels nice and dry and is definitely hard pieces that held together. From just looking it seems like exactly what I needed for my plants. Maybe I got received a contaminated bag or it sat in bad condition. Not sure, but I’m unhappy with my purchase. My plants never had bug in the soil for the years I’ve kept them highly taken care of. Now every time I water I see microscopic size & nat sized bugs in every one that I transplanted into this medium. It’s very upsetting. My plants are expensive and now it’s going to be even more in chemicals for issues.

Like the fine texture for mixing into tiny pots for better drainage. Most additives are much larger and chunkier for using in tiny pots

Honestly the best akadama I have ever bought. I tried some.. mixes from some pretty popular bonsai names but nothing has come close. It not only is appealing to the eye the small amount of dust is crazy for how big of a bag it is. It doesn't compact or brake apart like alot of the others I have tried. This is everything I needed and exceeded it. My bonsai are looking great!

I love the quality of this akadama! I love that it comes in multiple sizes however I have only tried this one which I think is X-small. It mixes in very well with my soilless succulent gritty mix. It doesn’t fall apart or crumble. I have been using it for about 5 months and its still completely in tact. It can also be used as a top dressing. Im sticking with this brand!! They pic of the Pachyphytum in the black planter shows it wet as a top dressing. The pic of the Graptosedum Ghosty in the pink planter shows it dry but mixed with turface as a top dressing.

The small size combined with some larger grit makes an excellent medium for South African plants like Adromischus and Crassula. I also use it for my pachyphytum and other pachy's. It allows the majority of the water to drain away while holding enough water with nutrients for the roots to slowly take it in when they need it.It’s also small enough for propagating your succulents. The grains are really uniform in size and they don't break down quickly.A good product for the money.
