I have mixed feelings about this candelabra set. First off they DO look nice once you have them set up but there are so many problems with them that I can’t justify more than 3 stars. First off the candles themselves are horrible, cheap plastic things. They don’t come with a remote, or even an on/off switch, so the only way to turn these on and off is to completely remove the batteries. There are 20 of them so putting the batteries in and taking them out every time you want to use them is a pain in the neck. The second thing is that there are no instructions whatsoever so you just have to guess which pieces go where and how to assemble them, which isn’t difficult to figure out, but if you want all four of them to be somewhat uniform with the height of each pole you just have to piece them together and pull them apart numerous times until you get the look you want. None of the pieces are labeled either so it’s all trial and error with the arrangement. Third, I would have preferred the hurricane cover to be glass but instead they are cheap plastic, which I suppose makes them less fragile but definitely cheapens the look. Fourth, they are very lightweight for being metal, especially the base, and I suspect they could be knocked over by a light breeze which makes them unsuitable for anything outdoors. The final thing that I found to be somewhat irritating is that the base is covered in a thick plastic film that doesn’t come off easily and take some time to remove. Once it’s off the gold color is nice but shows every single fingerprint you make while removing the plastic film. It’s impossible not to leave fingerprints unless you wear gloves or something but most people don’t think to do that as it’s generally not necessary. So now they have to be cleaned and polished before they can be used, AND I have to buy separate candles and batteries to replace the terrible ones that came with them. We are planning to use these for an event that we are hosting but they will need a lot of modifications that I wasn’t planning on needing to do.
