I like this 30 pack of 1/4/x 20 galvanized U-nuts. You don't need these until it's Sunday Morning and you break one that's holding your license plate on the truck. There's tons of other uses for them so why not be prepared. They don't take up much room and the short walk to the workbench sure beats the drive to the hardware store, if it's open.

These j-nuts are just a tad smaller than the rest that I have in my parts bin in my garage.They are just the size I needed to replace a fender nut on a car I'm working on.Solid, no loose threads, they work exactly as you expect them to.I also find that you can use these to replace those crappy dried-up and broken plastic fasteners that hold plastic splash guards under the engine of most cars nowadays, as long as you have some bolts (and maybe lock washers) to go with them.

Had loose flapping plastic skidplate due to missing hardware. These clipped on and allowed me to screw loose panel to the lower lip of the bumper.
